Imaging & Digitization Unpaid Internship - Spring 2027

This is a non-merit, unpaid internship position. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.5th District, Department of Corrections has an Imaging & Digitization internship opportunity for Spring 2027. This role offers hands-on experience executing a critical scanning and digitization project, transforming physical files into secure, easily accessible digital assets. Please note that these internship opportunities are unpaid. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare physical files for scanning by organizing documents, removing staples/clips, and repairing damaged pages.
• Operate high-volume commercial document scanners to create high-quality digital copies.
• Index, tag, and organize digital files in our document management system following established naming conventions.
• Perform quality control checks to ensure scanned images are legible, complete, and properly categorized.
• Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive organizational and operational records.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and have completed at least two years of college by the start of the internship
• Must be currently enrolled at an accredited educational institution
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
• High ethical standards and professional judgment
• Self-driven and accountable
• Flexible and open to change
• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in repetitive task execution
• Basic proficiency with computers, digital file systems, and standard office software.
• Ability to handle physical documents safely and maintain an organized workspace.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision once trained.
• Prior experience with office equipment or data entry is a plus, but not required.
