Full job description

A Career with Point72's Risk and Quantitative Research (RQR) Team The RQR team plays a vital role in the firm’s investment process, building a deeply rooted culture of efficient risk management and factful performance attribution. Quantitative risk analysts perform research to identify opportunities for improved risk management, investment behavior, and portfolio construction, with the goal of helping the firm deliver superior risk-adjusted performance. The paramount mission of the team is to protect the firm from improper levels of exposure and ensure that risk-taking is always efficient and deliberate. What you'll do

  • Analyze private credit portfolios to identify key drivers of risk, return, concentration, liquidity, and downside exposure
  • Partner with investment teams to review private credit transactions, including deal structure, borrower fundamentals, covenants, downside risks, and key diligence findings
  • Evaluate borrower fundamentals, capital structures, covenants, and deal terms to assess potential vulnerabilities across private credit investments
  • Monitor the private credit portfolio, including performance, exposures, concentrations, risk limits, and emerging company or sector-level issues
  • Ensure accurate tracking of portfolio activity, key terms, risk metrics, and performance trends
  • Prepare weekly and ad hoc reporting for senior risk management, business leadership, and the broader firm management team
  • Provide clear, practical risk commentary on portfolio performance, investment activity, and notable developments across the private credit book
  • Produce concise risk reporting that translates complex analytics into actionable observations for investment professionals and senior stakeholders
  • Partner with risk managers to monitor limits, investigate emerging exposures, and escalate material changes in portfolio risk profiles
  • Conduct research on credit market trends, portfolio behavior, and risk measurement techniques to strengthen the team’s analytical capabilities
  • Collaborate with technologists to improve data quality, automate recurring analysis, and strengthen risk infrastructure for private credit portfolios

What's required

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or another related discipline
  • 1-2 years of experience in quantitative research, trading, portfolio analytics, or risk management focused on credit markets
  • Strong understanding of private credit instruments and how they behave across changing markets and borrower-specific conditions
  • Strong corporate credit analysis skills, including evaluating financial statements, borrower fundamentals, leverage, and repayment capacity
  • Strong understanding of capital structures, covenants, and how deal terms influence risk outcomes in private credit portfolios
  • Experience with portfolio-level risk measurement, including concentration, sensitivity, scenario, and downside risk analysis
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to investment professionals, risk managers, technologists, and senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, accountability, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work full time in New York
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards
