The Afterschool Program Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for a small afterschool program serving approximately 25-30 children and a team of 2 afterschool classroom staff. Working closely with the Afterschool Classroom Facilitator(s) and the Principal, the Coordinator helps ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the program through staff scheduling, enrollment, communication, and other administrative support.

The program will run each regular school day from Monday through Thursday from dismissal until 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate staff schedules and arrange substitute coverage to ensure appropriate staffing for program operations.

  • Coordinate student enrollment, maintain waitlists, and support program registration and fee collection activities.

  • Maintain the program calendar and communicate schedule changes, school closures, and other program updates to staff and families.

  • Maintain enrollment, attendance, and other program records as required.

  • Coordinate the ordering and organization of program materials and supplies.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for routine afterschool program communications with families, including enrollment, attendance, program calendar, and operations. Collaborate with the school's Family Liaison to ensure families receive timely information and appropriate support.

  • Support the Principal with administrative tasks related to the operation of the Afterschool Program.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications – Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Forty-eight (48) credit hours of college coursework or an Associate's Degree, or a passing score on one of the following formalized standardized assessments:

  • ParaPro Assessment; or

  • ACT WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants.

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with school-age children in an afterschool, summer, educational, recreation, or youth development setting.

  • Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

Qualifications – Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, child development, youth development, recreation, human services, or a related field.

  • Experience planning and facilitating enrichment or youth development activities for school-age children.

  • Experience supporting students with disabilities in inclusive educational or youth development settings.

  • Experience working with multilingual learners and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

  • Experience working in a Boston Public Schools setting, particularly at the school where the position is located.

  • Familiarity with the students, families, and school community served by the program.

  • Proficiency in [language(s)] .

Terms:

Part-time, approximately 12 hours per week during the school year, from school dismissal until 4:30pm. Additional hours for required meetings, training, and professional development may be required.
