Full job description

About Blue: Blue is building a new kind of phone, with your chief of staff built in. Blue sees what you do and reads every notification, text, and email for you. Based on everything it’s learned about you, it decides what to do with each one: handle it and leave you an FYI, or draft a reply and wait for your OK. Anything in your life is one ask away from being off your plate. Blue can manage complex long term tasks across apps It works from day one. When you switch, Blue reads everything that comes over from your iPhone, so it already knows the people in your life, how you write, and the passwords, cards, and IDs it needs, kept in a secure vault you both share. No onboarding, and no explaining yourself. Delegation this deep isn’t possible from a single agent in an app. It takes owning the operating system, the whole intelligence stack, and, ultimately, the hardware. Today the Blue OS runs on Google Pixel hardware while our own hardware is in development. We’re Y Combinator-backed, seed-funded, going into our series A, and our first customers already use it as their daily phone. The role You will build the parts of Blue that people touch all day. Depending on your background, you will own one of the areas below end to end, and work closely with the people who own the others. This role is open at mid and senior levels. What you'll own

  • Vault, autofill and predicted replies: Helping people when they are doing something themselves, without asking Blue: filling passwords, cards and forms from the vault, and suggesting the reply they were about to write
  • Assistant surfaces: The chat experience, notifications, and the proactive surfaces where Blue leaves you an FYI or a draft for your OK, plus the on-device caching that makes them feel instant
  • Our own apps: Messages, Notes, Recorder, Phone and Photos, each built so Blue can understand and act inside it
  • Review: Reviewing changes in your area from teammates and AI agents
  • OS release testing: Device tests on real phones that gate every OS update before it reaches customers

What we're looking for

  • You have shipped Android apps to real users in Kotlin, with modern Android UI
  • You hold yourself to a high quality bar without someone checking: edge cases, error handling, performance
  • You test on a real device before you call something done
  • You treat people's passwords and personal data with the care they need
  • You keep PRs small and give real reviews
  • You work well with ambiguity and can move quickly without sacrificing quality
  • You want to make a Blue Phone your daily phone

Nice to have

  • Android's autofill framework, inline suggestions, or keyboard (input method) APIs; experience on the Android or Chrome autofill teams is a strong fit
  • Messaging, telephony or media apps
  • Building UI around an AI assistant or LLM features
  • Experience reviewing AI-generated code, or working with coding agents

Why join now

  • You will own a whole area of the product on a small team
  • Your work is what customers see and judge Blue by, every day
