Full job description

Description

We are seeking a Benefits Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity with an established organization in Moline. This is a highly customer-facing role for someone who understands medical claims and EOBs and enjoys helping people navigate questions about their healthcare benefits.

You'll be one of the first points of contact for members — both by phone and in person — so we're looking for someone who is approachable, patient, confident and comfortable handling a busy day.

What You'll Do

  • Handle approximately 30–40 incoming member calls per day

  • Greet and assist members who visit the benefits office

  • Answer questions regarding medical claims, EOBs, benefits and claim status

  • Help members understand how claims were processed and navigate next steps

  • Research questions or discrepancies and provide timely follow-up

  • Process HRA reimbursements, short-term disability, wellness forms and spousal premium reimbursements

  • Assist with new enrollment and open enrollment

  • Maintain accurate records and handle confidential member information

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with medical billing, medical claims, health insurance or a related area

  • Ability to read and understand an Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

  • Working knowledge of how medical claims are billed and processed

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Comfortable handling a high volume of phone and in-person interaction

  • Ability to remain professional and composed when assisting frustrated or concerned members

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through

  • High school diploma or equivalent

You don't need to be an expert in benefits administration. However, candidates should come in with enough medical claims knowledge to understand an EOB and the basic claims process.
