Full job description

Description

Amazon is seeking an experienced Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (TIPM) to join our Global Engineering Services & Analytics (GESA) organization within the Power Resiliency team. In this role, you will own the end-to-end program management of power resiliency assets—including generators, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and related electrical infrastructure—across Amazon’s global portfolio of fulfillment centers, sort centers, and delivery stations.

You will drive the implementation, commissioning, and lifecycle management of technical power projects that ensure uninterrupted operations at Amazon sites worldwide. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You will work cross-functionally with electrical engineering, construction, operations, safety, and procurement teams to deliver resilient power solutions at scale.

Key job responsibilities

Project Implementation & Delivery

  • Scope, plan, and execute generator and BESS installation projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery aligned with site operational requirements.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and status reports for all assigned power resiliency capital projects.

  • Coordinate commissioning, testing, and acceptance protocols for new power equipment, ensuring compliance with Amazon technical standards, NEC/NFPA codes, and local jurisdictional requirements.

  • Manage design reviews and technical submittals, working closely with electrical engineers and third-party design firms to ensure constructability and operational readiness.

  • Drive the procurement process for generators, BESS units, switchgear, and related balance-of-plant equipment in partnership with Strategic Sourcing.

Maintenance & Lifecycle Management

  • Develop and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for generators, BESS, automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling switchgear, and associated controls across assigned sites.

  • Establish maintenance KPIs and reporting cadences; analyze equipment performance data to identify trends, predict failures, and optimize maintenance intervals.

  • Manage end-of-life planning and replacement strategies for aging power resiliency assets, including capital justification and prioritization.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, manufacturer recommendations, and Amazon internal standards for power equipment maintenance.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage vendor relationships with generator OEMs, BESS suppliers, electrical contractors, and commissioning agents; hold partners accountable to scope, schedule, quality, and safety standards.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between engineering, construction, operations, and external partners for all power resiliency project activities at assigned sites.

  • Facilitate stakeholder alignment across regional operations teams, site leadership, safety, and corporate engineering to ensure seamless project delivery and transition to steady-state operations.

  • Negotiate contracts, change orders, and service agreements; manage purchase orders and invoicing through the project lifecycle.

Technical Leadership & Strategy

  • Support the development of Amazon’s global power resiliency strategy, including site assessment frameworks, resiliency scoring models, and technology evaluation criteria.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies in energy storage, distributed generation, microgrid architecture, and renewable integration to inform the team’s technical roadmap.

  • Author and maintain technical standards, design guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for generator and BESS programs.

  • Conduct root-cause analysis on power system failures and outages; develop corrective action plans and drive implementation across the portfolio.

  • Represent the Power Resiliency team in cross-functional reviews, leadership briefings, and incident response coordination.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership

  • Knowledge of project management tools and software

  • 3+ years of construction or project management, or 3+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 2+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience

  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 110, NFPA 111, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards governing emergency and standby power systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer License

  • Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of microgrid design, distributed energy resources (DERs), renewable energy integration, and advanced energy storage technologies (lithium-ion, flow batteries, etc.).

  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms (e.g., Maximo, SAP PM) and capital planning/budgeting processes.

  • Experience with utility interconnection processes, power purchase agreements, and grid-tied energy systems.

  • Prior experience at Amazon or within a large-scale logistics/technology infrastructure environment.
