About the Role:
We are seeking a highly capable and independent Commercial Counsel to support our sales contracting function. In this pivotal role, you will draft, review, and negotiate customer agreements, order forms, and related sales documents, and partner closely with the sales team to close deals quickly and well. Our sales cycle moves fast, and deal volume surges at month-end and quarter-end. You will thrive in those windows, managing many concurrent negotiations without losing speed or quality. This role is built for an attorney who scales through process and technology. You will use, refine, and follow repeatable playbooks and workflows, and you will build and use AI-driven tools to automate routine work and scale support. You will report to the Senior Manager, Counsel, and be instrumental in enhancing the legal team’s strategic impact and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be based in the Pacific or Mountain time zone. What You'll Do:
- Support the sales contracting pipeline by independently drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer agreements, order forms, and related sales documents at volume, working closely with Sales, Deal Desk, Finance, and Privacy.
- Manage high volumes of concurrent deals during month-end and quarter-end close, triaging and prioritizing to keep revenue moving.
- Create, refine, and maintain negotiation playbooks, fallback positions, templates, and workflows that allow sales contracting to scale efficiently and consistently.
- Build and deploy AI-driven tools and workflows to automate routine review, accelerate turnaround times, and enable Sales to self-serve on low-risk matters.
- Manage contract intake, workflows, and approvals across multiple platforms, including Ironclad and Asana.
- Stay on top of a fast-moving deal queue, and keep sales stakeholders and leaders informed on deal status, escalations, and any needed adjustments.
What We're Looking For:
- 6+ years of progressive legal experience, with at least 3 years gained in-house at a high-growth technology company or advising tech clients at a reputable law firm. Experience negotiating SaaS, hardware, or connected-device customer agreements is a big plus.
- Energized by a fast-paced sales environment, able to move deals quickly while exercising strong legal and business judgment without constant oversight.
- Proven ability to handle high volumes of concurrent deals and absorb workload surges during month-end and quarter-end close, prioritizing effectively under tight deadlines.
- Process-driven by nature, with a track record of designing, documenting, and following repeatable processes that make high-volume contracting efficient and consistent.
- AI-proficient, with hands-on experience building and using AI-driven tools to speed up contract review, automate routine tasks, and scale legal support. You see AI as a core part of how modern legal work gets done.
- Exceptional and persuasive communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to influence stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and tailor messaging effectively across all levels of the organization, including senior sales leadership.
- Capacity for strategic thinking, consistently analyzing risks and rewards, and applying creative problem-solving to close deals without compromising the company’s position.
- A true team player who’s happy to pitch in wherever needed, whether that’s your own deal queue or someone else’s fire drill at quarter-end.
- Someone who genuinely enjoys working with others, actively shares knowledge, fosters strong working relationships, and can partner with senior managers and directors to achieve shared goals.
- Someone with a great sense of humor and no ego who shares our vision that the legal team can be both a center of excellence and fun at the same time!
- Please note: If based in the San Francisco area, there will be a hybrid schedule (2 days a week in office).
