Full job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Transmission Technical Services Technical Expert , you will provide technical leadership and lifecycle support for the installed base of FACTS and HVDC systems across North America. You will work directly with customers to assess asset condition, system performance, operational risks, and maintenance requirements, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, availability, cybersecurity, safety, and long-term asset performance. Your responsibilities will include conducting site assessments, leading technical reviews, evaluating equipment obsolescence, developing modernization and upgrade recommendations, and supporting lifecycle planning for critical transmission assets. Working closely with engineering, product specialists, factories, supply chain, field service, and project execution teams, you will develop and implement technically sound solutions for control and protection systems, power electronics, transformers, cooling systems, switchgear, and related station equipment. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers optimize system performance, reduce operational risk, extend asset life, and plan future investments across their FACTS and HVDC infrastructure.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Develop and execute strategic service sales plans for existing FACTS and HVDC customers, driving growth through upgrades, retrofits, refurbishments, spare parts, obsolescence solutions, modernization projects, and long-term service agreements.

  • Build and maintain customer account plans by analyzing installed base data, equipment lifecycle status, maintenance history, operational risks, outage schedules, and emerging service opportunities to generate and qualify pipeline growth.

  • Establish and strengthen customer relationships through site visits, technical reviews, lifecycle planning sessions, and industry engagement, identifying customer needs and positioning value-driven solutions that improve reliability, performance, cybersecurity, and asset longevity.

  • Lead the commercial sales process from opportunity identification through proposal handoff, including stakeholder engagement, competitive positioning, pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and accurate pipeline management within Salesforce.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, proposal management, product specialists, supply chain, field service, and project execution teams to develop technically compliant, commercially competitive, and bundled service solutions.

  • Provide market intelligence, forecasting, and business case development by monitoring industry trends, customer investment plans, and regulatory drivers while ensuring seamless opportunity handoff, risk communication, and successful project execution.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Business, or a related discipline, with 5+ years of experience in technical sales, business development, engineering, project execution, field service, or proposal management within the high-voltage transmission or power systems industry.

  • Working knowledge of FACTS and/or HVDC systems, including control and protection systems, power electronics, transformers, cooling systems, switchgear, auxiliary systems, and related station equipment.

  • Proven experience developing and selling service solutions such as modernization programs, upgrades, refurbishments, spare parts, maintenance services, technical support offerings, and long-term service agreements.

  • Demonstrated ability to build customer relationships, create demand, qualify opportunities, and successfully manage complex technical sales opportunities through extended decision-making and procurement cycles.

  • Strong commercial and business acumen, including value-based selling, pricing strategy, risk assessment, contract awareness, negotiation support, and the ability to communicate technical concepts and business value to both executive and technical stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working across global organizations; proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred), a disciplined approach to pipeline management, and willingness to travel approximately 30-50% throughout North America.
