About the role:
We're in search of an exceptional Senior Research Associate to join our Spatial Team. You'll be an integral part of our highly collaborative R&D team and contribute to developing technologies that map protein — and other biomolecules — directly within intact tissue. This will involve supporting all aspects of the process, including antibody clone screening, protocol optimization, library preparation, instrument operation, and initial analysis of the data, ensuring the highest quality results are achieved throughout the entire process. The successful candidate in this position will work closely with expert scientists in spatial analysis and will have the opportunity to participate in the development of high profile cutting edge tools in spatial biology.
You bring a strong background in the biological sciences and have acquired significant experience in conducting spatial assays to probe protein and RNA in tissues. You possess excellent communication skills, are detail oriented and can effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, integrating feedback into your experimental design. Your high motivation, proactiveness, and adaptability allow you to navigate changing priorities and methods with ease. Thriving in fast-paced environments, you excel at managing multiple priorities, communicating clearly, and consistently delivering results.
What you will be doing:
-
Performing protein assays on tissue sections on microscope glass slides
-
Antibody clone screening via high-throughput fluorescent microscopy imaging of the processed tissue samples, and image data pre-processing
-
In situ library preparation workflows
-
Participate in troubleshooting of assays and protocol optimization for specific tissue samples
-
Deliver processed image data to and work closely with computational biologists for image data analysis
-
Maintain relevant documentation for record keeping related to the projects
Minimum Requirements:
-
B.S. or M.S. in Cell Biology, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field.
-
B.S. with 5+ years or M.S. with 3+ years of hands-on experience in an industry setting.
-
Experience with tissue processing, histology, immunohistochemistry, immunostaining, multiplex protein assays and/or in situ hybridization techniques is a must
-
Experience working with antibodies and familiarity with mAb QC, conjugation and/or functional testing is a must.
-
A proven track record of using, optimizing and troubleshooting protocols in tissues.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-
Tissue handling experience (fresh frozen, FFPE, antigen retrieval, etc.)
-
Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and structure your work
-
Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
-
Basic coding skills
-
Experience with image analysis using relevant Software (e.g. CellProfiler, FIJI)
-
Light and fluorescence microscopy experience (confocal or standard epifluorescence)
-
Work experience from similar positions in academia, industry or a service provider/core facility
