DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

9 East is a 32-bed unit. The 9 East Unit provides services to adults with acute and chronic diagnoses. Patients on the unit require close and frequent assessment, and skillful, timely clinical interventions to achieve their treatment goals. Pulmonary disease, renal disease, diabetes, chemical dependency, complex family and/or psychosocial issues, and multisystem organ diseases are commonly seen. The unit is fully operational 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Our goal is to provide competent, compassionate care to patients and their families that will assist them to achieve the highest level of functioning or to provide compassionate comfort care to those who are nearing life’s end.

SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager provides support for patients, visitors and colleagues on assigned nursing units. Facilitates efficient patient throughput including admissions, discharges and transfers. Supports patient experience and culture of safety goals through equipment maintenance, unit supplies, unit appearance and overall environment of care. Provides reception type services to patients, families, visitors and other unit guests.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Requires high school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Three to six months previous related experience Preferred customer service, retail, clerical experience
