Our mission in Visalia is to provide “better” in every sense —better care, better collaboration, and a deep commitment to the community we serve. Ready to grow your career in a place that values community and collaboration? Let’s talk.

We are hiring for one full-time Intensivist at Kaweah Health, a community-based teaching hospital that sits at the gateway to the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Our central location, affordable housing, and access to outdoors makes Kaweah ideal for those interested in hiking, biking, and all things outdoors due to the year-round temperate weather.

Local Team Collaboration:

  • Join our ICU team of 10 physicians and 4 APP’s at Kaweah Health.

  • Work alongside a multi-disciplinary team within the unit to collaboratively deliver exceptional patient care, leveraging a diverse mix of clinical practice expertise.

Qualifications:

  • We are seeking board-certified or board-eligible critical care physicians (MD or DO) who are committed to excellence in clinical service, are forward-thinking, demonstrate problem-solving abilities necessary in the ICU, and demonstrate the ability to work as a team member and perform all technical skills in the critical care setting.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Scheduling:

  • Full-time physicians work an average of 14 shifts per month. Mostly day shifts with some nights.

  • 7-days-on/7-days-off schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical care in the ICU, focusing on medical, surgical, and cardiovascular patients.

  • We provide care in a 21 bed MICU, 20 bed CVICU, and 42 bed ICCU. During the day we have 1 MD in the MICU, 1 MD in the CVICU, with 1 MD, 1 APP, and tele-ICU MD coverage in the ICCU. We also have a day APP who floats between MICU and CVICU.

  • We are a teaching hospital with Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, Family Medicine, and Surgery residency programs. There are EM residents & a transitional year resident in the MICU.

  • Utilize Cerner, the hospital’s internal informatics platform to ensure efficient and accurate patient care documentation.

Living and Working in Visalia:

  • Our location is the gateway to the Sierra Mountain Range. We are about an hour from Kings Canyon, Yosemite, and Sierra National Forrest. Year-round Mediterranean climate with access to excellent hiking and outdoor activities. Overall low cost of living and exceptional schools makes for an excellent place to call home.

  • Several team members commute from Fresno/Clovis, a larger community, about 50 minutes north of Visalia.

  • Central Location: Fresno/Clovis/Visalia is a 3-hour drive to Los Angeles, San Jose, and San Luis Obispo.

  • Median home price in Fresno is $375k, $497k in Clovis, & $369k in Visalia.

  • Our guiding principle is patient-first care, which means we’re focused on the people of Visalia and nearby areas. You’ll be part of a team that’s making a real difference in the health of our neighbors.

Rewards and Compensation:

  • Annual clinical compensation is $520,000 based on 14 shifts per month.
