Full job description

We have a significant opportunity to grow our HCM & Payroll product portfolio across North America. With the launch of Sage HCM, our expanding AI capabilities, and the ability to connect HR, payroll, and financial management through Sage Intacct, we're investing in building a stronger competitive position in the mid-market.

We're looking for an experienced Product Marketing Leader to help shape that growth. You'll lead North American product marketing strategy across our HCM & Payroll portfolio, influence where we focus, how we differentiate, and how we compete, and work closely with senior leaders across Product, Sales, and Marketing to turn those decisions into commercial results. You'll also lead and grow a team of Senior PMMs and have an opportunity to help shape the future direction of this business.

Location: Hybrid; 3 days per week from either our Atlanta office (Ponce City Market) or our Austin office (405 Colorado St.)

Why Sage?

Sage helps small-to-medium-sized businesses to succeed with AI-powered Accounting, Finance, Payroll & HR software. Knowing that millions of our global customers depend on our solutions, motivates us to keep innovating so they keep growing with confidence.

This is an opportunity to help shape Sage's next phase of growth in the North American HCM market. With Sage HCM now in market, an established financial management customer base, and growing AI capabilities, there's an opportunity to build on Sage's strengths and establish a stronger position in a highly competitive category. You'll have the opportunity to influence important commercial decisions, work closely with senior business leaders, develop a talented Product Marketing team, and help shape how the business grows. For a leader who enjoys building, developing teams, and seeing their strategic decisions translate into business results, there's an opportunity to make a significant contribution to what comes next.

What You'll Do:

Product Marketing Strategy & Market Growth

  • Lead North American product marketing strategy across Sage's HCM, Payroll, Workforce Management, and AI-enabled portfolio.

  • Identify where Sage has the strongest opportunities to compete and grow, using customer insights, market trends, competitive intelligence, and commercial performance data.

  • Shape market segmentation, positioning, pricing and packaging recommendations, and go-to-market priorities to strengthen Sage's competitive position.

  • Partner with Product leadership to bring customer and market insights into roadmap discussions, investment priorities, and future product direction.

Positioning, Messaging & Competitive Differentiation

  • Develop compelling, differentiated positioning and messaging that clearly communicates why customers should choose Sage.

  • Shape the market narrative around Sage HCM, including the value of connecting HR, payroll, workforce management, and financial management through Sage Intacct.

  • Translate AI-enabled capabilities into clear customer benefits, particularly around accuracy, efficiency, transparency, and control.

  • Equip Sales, Marketing, and Partner teams with the insights, messaging, and competitive strategies needed to win in the market.

Go-to-Market Strategy & Commercial Impact

  • Lead go-to-market strategy for new products, capabilities, and portfolio initiatives, from market opportunity assessment through launch and ongoing growth.

  • Partner with Product, Sales, Growth Marketing, Customer Success, and other cross-functional leaders to align commercial priorities and execution.

  • Establish clear measures of success and use performance insights to improve competitive win rates, adoption, customer expansion, retention, and revenue growth.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the customer value proposition and accelerate growth across new and existing customer segments.

Strategic Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Senior Product Marketers, building their strategic capabilities and commercial impact.

  • Serve as a senior Product Marketing partner for North America, working closely with global Product Marketing leadership and regional business stakeholders to align priorities and advance strategic initiatives.

  • Influence senior stakeholders across a globally distributed organization, bringing clarity to complex decisions and helping teams prioritize opportunities with the greatest commercial impact.

  • Build scalable approaches, processes, and best practices that strengthen product marketing effectiveness as the business evolves.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of significant experience in B2B SaaS product marketing, including ownership of product marketing strategy across a product portfolio

  • People leadership experience, with the ability to coach, develop, and elevate the strategic impact of Product Marketing teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate market, customer, and competitive insights into commercial strategies that drive measurable business results.

  • Strong expertise in positioning, messaging, segmentation, go-to-market strategy, and competitive differentiation.

  • Experience influencing senior Product, Sales, and Marketing leaders, including challenging assumptions, shaping decisions, and building alignment across teams.

  • Strong commercial judgment, with experience connecting product marketing activities to customer acquisition, adoption, retention, expansion, and revenue growth.

  • Ability to navigate complex, global organizations and lead cross-functional initiatives with a high degree of independence.

Experience in HCM, Payroll, Workforce Management, or Financial Management software is an advantage, but not required. We're equally interested in strong B2B SaaS Product Marketing leaders who can bring relevant experience, fresh perspectives, and a track record of delivering commercial results.
