Full job description
At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.
Lyft Urban Solutions powers the bike-sharing and scooter-sharing systems that move millions of people in over 60 cities worldwide. We built North America's first automated bike-share system and continue to lead the micromobility revolution. Our systems operate globally - from Citi Bike in New York to BIXI in Montreal, Divvy in Chicago, Capital Bikeshare in DC, and iconic systems in Austin, Barcelona, Bogota, Boston, Buenos Aires, Columbus, Detroit, Dubai, London, Madrid, Mexico City, Monaco, Pittsburgh, Portland, Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, Toronto, and beyond.
We're not just technology providers - we operate these systems, building the software, hardware, and operations that make urban micromobility work at scale. LUS is a global business with teams and partners across North America, Europe, and Latin America, and our international footprint is growing. We're launching in new markets, introducing next-generation bikes and stations, and expanding some of the largest bikeshare systems in the world.
Ready to shape how millions of people move through their cities every day?
As the Chief of Staff for LUS, you will report to the Head of LUS serving as both a strategic thought partner and a hands-on executor. You'll help shape priorities and tradeoffs with the Head of LUS and their leadership team, then turn those priorities into plans, processes, and results. You'll own the planning, operating rhythm, and communications that keep a global, multi-function organization aligned, and you'll lead high-priority initiatives from scoping through delivery. A successful CoS is neither a shadow nor a gatekeeper. They're a force multiplier for leadership who drives decisions to closure and makes the organization work better.
A great candidate brings structured problem-solving and executive communication skills, a bias toward action, and comfort with ambiguity. You'll work across product, hardware, operations, commercial, finance, policy, legal, and people teams, both within LUS and across Lyft.
Responsibilities:
-
Strategic thought partnership: Act as a sounding board to the Head of LUS on priorities, tradeoffs, and organizational decisions; bring a point of view and clear recommendations, backed by data and analysis
-
Planning and goal-setting: Own the LUS annual planning and OKR process, from timelines and frameworks through final plans; track progress against goals, surface dependencies and risks early, and drive course corrections
-
Operating rhythm and governance: Design and continually improve how the LUS leadership team operates, including staff meetings, business reviews, offsites, and decision forums, so that decisions get made and followed through
-
Executive readiness: Prepare the Head of LUS for key meetings and reviews, including with Lyft's executive team; partner with teams ahead of executive reviews so materials are clear, concise, and ready for a decision
-
Strategic initiatives: Lead cross-functional initiatives across key areas of the business, from research and business cases through execution
-
Internal communications: Own LUS internal communications, including all-hands, regular leadership and team updates; craft communications plans that keep a global team connected to priorities and progress
-
Change management: Help lead the organization through change, including new priorities, team structures, and ways of working, with clear plans, stakeholder alignment, and communication
-
Org effectiveness: Partner closely with the Executive Business Partner, People, and Finance on org health, headcount planning, engagement, and initiatives that support the Head of LUS; find gaps and put scalable solutions in place
-
Cross-functional alignment: Build trusted relationships across LUS and the rest of Lyft, break down silos, and act as a point of contact for alignment on shared priorities
-
Ways of working: Find and build scalable processes, including using AI and automation, that make the team faster and free leaders to focus on the highest-value work
Experience:
-
5+ years of experience, including management consulting or a similar strategy role, ideally combined with in-house experience in strategy, operations, BizOps, or a Chief of Staff function
-
Track record of leading cross-functional programs across several teams and delivering high-quality results on time
-
Strategic problem-solver who can analyze complex, ambiguous situations and recommend a path forward, balancing long-term strategy with near-term execution
-
Equally comfortable shaping the strategy and doing the work to deliver it
-
Proven ability to influence without authority and hold stakeholders across levels accountable
-
Experience driving organizational or process change
-
Excellent written and verbal communicator who can turn complex information into crisp, executive-ready materials
-
Data-fluent with a solid grasp of financial fundamentals and how they connect to business strategy
-
Experience working with global or geographically distributed teams
-
Sets a high bar for quality, has a low ego, and stays steady under pressure
-
Highest level of integrity and discretion with confidential information
-
Experience in mobility, transportation, hardware, or operations-heavy businesses is a plus

-

-

-
18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible
-
Subsidized commuter benefits
-
