Description
Steven Lahey with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Sr. Financial Analyst to support manufacturing finance activities for an aerospace operation in Stockton, California. This position focuses on turning cost, inventory, and operational data into meaningful insights that help leaders improve profitability, strengthen financial accuracy, and guide business decisions. The role works closely with production, procurement, supply chain, operations, and finance teams to enhance reporting, support planning cycles, and drive better cost performance. Responsibilities:

Analyze production-related financial results, including materials, labor, overhead, and margin performance, and highlight key drivers behind fluctuations.

Review inventory balances and costing outcomes to help maintain accurate valuation, strengthen controls, and support effective stock management decisions.

Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities by assessing cost patterns, operational assumptions, and potential financial impact on business performance.

Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting analysis during month-end close to ensure reliable reporting for manufacturing operations.

Monitor cost of goods sold, inventory adjustments, and operational variances to improve transparency and support compliance with accounting standards.

Partner with operational leaders to identify savings opportunities, improve productivity, and translate financial findings into practical recommendations.

Assist with cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving reporting quality, process efficiency, financial controls, and data integrity.

Provide documentation, schedules, and analytical support for internal and external audit requests related to cost accounting and operational finance.
Requirements • Strong background in financial analysis within a manufacturing or operational environment.

Experience with cost accounting principles, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and variance review.

Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices.

Ability to build financial models and perform detailed ad hoc analysis to support decision-making.

Proficiency in identifying trends and insights through data mining and large data set analysis.

Demonstrated skill in partnering with cross-functional teams and presenting financial information clearly.

Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close activities.

Background in manufacturing cost accounting, preferably within the aerospace industry.
