Full job description
The Role We're hiring a Forward Deployed Optimization Manager to join Agentic Optimization (AO), Intelligems' new AI-native optimization team.
You'll deploy AI agents and Intelligems-powered fixtures on real Shopify brands' storefronts, across the full funnel: content, pricing, upsells, offers, checkout, and post-purchase. Agents do the heavy lifting on research, analysis, and test setup, so you can run more experiments, faster, than any traditional CRO program. You own the outcome: revenue and profit lift for every brand you work with.
Forward deployed means you're in the field. You're the customer's main point of contact and the person in the room when results get reviewed. You're also our sharpest signal on what the agents get right, where they break, and what we should build next.
This is an early, build-mode team. The playbook isn't written yet, and you'll help write it.
What You'll Do
- Deploy agents on live storefronts: use Intelligems' agentic tooling, Claude Code, and Intelligems MCPs to research, configure, and launch tests across your accounts. Build workflows that make each deployment faster than the last.
- Run the experimentation program: build testing roadmaps prioritized by expected impact, launch tests across pricing, offers, upsells, checkout, and content, call results, and turn outcomes into next steps.
- Shape the product: you're the field signal for an agentic product. Log what works and what breaks, flag gaps, and work with Product on what we build next.
- Own the customer relationship: be the primary point of contact for your brands across calls and Slack. Translate results into clear recommendations for founders and e-commerce leaders, and hold the program accountable to revenue.
- Help write the playbook: create the briefs, roadmaps, and performance summaries customers see, and turn what you learn into delivery best practices for the team.
Qualifications We're open to two backgrounds:
- CRO and experimentation: 5-7+ years running experimentation programs for e-commerce brands, whether agency-side, in-house, or as a consultant. You have strong opinions on test prioritization, statistical rigor, and what actually moves metrics like conversion, RPV, and PPV.
- AI-forward and client-facing: 5-7+ years in consulting, forward-deployed engineering (FDE), AI implementation, customer success, or a similar client-facing role. No CRO background required. You learn quickly, you already live in AI tools, and you figure things out before anyone shows you how. We'll teach you experimentation on the job.
Must have:
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience using AI tools and agents (Claude Cowork, Claude Code, MCPs, or similar) as part of your day-to-day work. That includes building repeatable workflows, automating multi-step tasks, connecting agents to tools and data sources, and knowing when to trust an output versus verify it
- Strong client-facing and relationship management skills: you can run a call, manage expectations, and keep an account healthy
- Self-starter who works well in ambiguity, unblocks yourself, and is driven by intrinsic motivation
- Track record of hitting targets and goals, with specifics you can point to
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially turning data into a recommendation someone can act on
- Executive presence and gravitas with customers: you show up as a trusted advisor to founders and senior e-commerce leaders, hold your ground on recommendations backed by data, and can steer a conversation when results or priorities get tough
Nice to have:
- Intelligems experience (preferred), either as a user, agency partner, or internal team member
- Shopify or e-commerce experience
- Comfort with data analysis (spreadsheets, SQL, or analytics tools)
- Agency or consulting background
Measures of Success
- Customer outcomes: accounts hitting their committed performance targets, including the 90-day guarantee where it applies
- Test velocity: tests launched per account per month at or above the target cadence
- Experiment and fixture variety: using the full Intelligems toolkit (pricing, shipping, offers, content, personalization) across accounts, not only one test type
- Retention: customers renewing and expanding past their initial term
- Customer satisfaction: strong relationship health across assigned accounts
- Product feedback: consistent, actionable findings logged into the AO feedback loop
