OUR MISSION The mission of the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy is to regulate the profession and practice of pharmacy in the interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the state of Louisiana by restricting the entry into the practice of pharmacy to those persons meeting the minimum qualifications for licensure and by monitoring and regulating the professional practice of its licensees to ensure their compliance with the laws and rules governing the practice of pharmacy.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE Licensing Analysts at the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy ensure that applicants possess the minimum qualifications required to be granted a credential; and help existing credential holders renew, reinstate and maintain their credentials.

Three years of experience in the issuance, maintenance, or reinstatement of licenses; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties: As a Licensing Analyst 1, you will help ensure applicants and licensees meet requirements established by law and Board rules, in a training capacity with close oversight from division leaders. You will process licensing applications, maintain accurate licensing records, and provide information and assistance to applicants, licensees, and members of the public. Realistic examples of work include:

  • Receive and process initial and renewal applications for Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) licenses and other assigned license types.

  • Communicate with applicants, licensees, pharmacists, practitioners, employers, attorneys, and members of the public by telephone and email to answer questions, explain requirements, provide application status information, and resolve routine licensing issues.

  • Enter application and licensing information into the Board's licensing database and ensure records are accurate and up to date.

  • Determine whether an application meets established minimum requirements or whether additional information or documentation is needed.

  • Identify deficiencies, discrepancies, or missing information and communicate clearly with applicants and licensees about what is needed to complete their application or maintain their license.

  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information contained in licensing applications and records.

The position involves balancing accuracy, customer service, regulatory requirements, and a high volume of work. Priorities may change throughout the day, so you must be able to organize your workload and determine what needs immediate attention while ensuring that routine licensing work continues to move forward. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: This appointment type may be filled as Probational - up to 24 months. Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group. Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
