Full job description
Mission: Our mission is to serve and protect the public interest in real estate transactions and other real estate-related activities. We accomplish this by maintaining a tradition of open government; providing fair and equitable administration and enforcement of the Louisiana Real Estate License Law and Commission Rules and Regulations; and through the development of progressive education programs that promote knowledge, ethics, and advancement of the real estate industry.
About this Position: This role involves processing professional license applications, renewals, and license status changes. New hires work under close supervision until fully trained. Expect to work with applicants/licensees, Licensing Division staff, a Licensing Analyst Supervisor, and the general public. A typical day would include processing a queue of applications and requests -verifying documents, following up on pending applications, and answering applicant questions by phone or email. Any unusual issues (flagged history, inconsistent records) get documented and routed to a supervisor.

Three years of experience in the issuance, maintenance, or reinstatement of licenses; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties:

Examines and analyzes data submitted by and/or on behalf of each applicant for licensure for accuracy, authenticity, and completeness of factual information to document the determination of eligibility and qualification for licensure.

Advises applicants and/or licensees of the status of their application and/or requests relative to the requisite information for further disposition of the same.

Receives, analyzes, and verifies the authenticity of diplomas and licenses submitted by applicants, licensees, institutions, and/or other licensing authorities as well as federal and state documents authorizing work in the United States and/or in the State (i.e., J-1 Visas, naturalization papers, licenses).

Reviews the application to determine if requisite licensure fees have been received by the agency.

Determines when licensure files can be forwarded to the master file room and takes action accordingly.

Explains federal and state laws, rules, and regulations, standards, and agency policies to officials, staff, licensees, the public, and/or providers of services and interprets and applies the same.

Assists in the preparation and dissemination of reports of statistical data, official reports, and/or information regarding continuing education, compliance.

Interprets and explains statutes, agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of continuing education to the public. Provides input and recommendations to the Supervisor on policies and/or procedure development
