Full job description

Last year our HCA Healthcare colleagues invested over 156,000 hours volunteering in our communities. As a(an) Manager Technical Product with HCA Healthcare you can be a part of an organization that is devoted to giving back!

Job Summary and Qualifications

What makes HCA Healthcare Information Technology Group (ITG) unique as a technology company is that our solutions ultimately impact the care of patients. Although our skills are needed in many industries, we in ITG apply them specifically to the noble cause of healthcare. We are "Healthcare Inspired." It is this guiding vision that pervades and positively influences every level of our organization. It shapes our mission, defines our values, and brings our leaders and employees together in a shared enthusiasm for their work, setting ITG apart as a uniquely purpose-driven company in the IT industry. As a part of that, we exist to raise the bar, unlock possibilities, and care like family.

The Technical Product Manager will help lead product management efforts on their assigned product portfolio which may consist of one or more products. Product portfolios may contain products utilizing different technology stacks and execution methods and range from collections of reusable components to full stack internally and/or externally developed platforms. This role will also work with other developers and business stakeholders to define requirements, groom user stories, and consult with development teams on various projects.

We are on a mission to change the face of the healthcare industry through value driven products. These products will create innovation for all users of healthcare across HCA’s nationwide ecosystem. To do this we are building teams that are curious and quick to adapt to new technologies.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle for healthcare interoperability, payer integration, and clinical data exchange products.

  • Define and prioritize product capabilities supporting FHIR APIs, HL7 interfaces, EDI transactions, clinical data exchange, and healthcare interoperability.

  • Translate payer, provider, clinical, regulatory, and business requirements into clear product requirements, epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes.

  • Serve as the product subject-matter expert for healthcare integration capabilities and develop a strong understanding of payer workflows, clinical data, claims and administrative transactions, and interoperability use cases.

  • Drive product capabilities utilizing healthcare standards including HL7 FHIR, HL7 v2, EDI/X12, and RESTful APIs, as applicable to payer and clinical integration use cases.

  • Partner with solution architects and engineering teams to define scalable, reusable, secure, and standards-based healthcare integration products and platforms.

  • Collaborate with architects and technical teams on API strategy, integration patterns, data models, event-driven integration, cloud solutions, and interoperability architecture while maintaining product ownership of business outcomes.

  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog, balancing customer and business needs, regulatory commitments, technical dependencies, platform investments, operational improvements, and technical debt.

  • Lead product planning and execution from discovery and requirements definition through development, testing, implementation, production rollout, and ongoing product optimization.

  • Define product capabilities for exchanging healthcare information across payers, providers, clinical systems, EHRs, vendors, government entities, and other healthcare ecosystem partners.

  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to support healthcare payer integration workflows involving eligibility, claims, encounters, authorizations, member/provider information, and clinical data, where applicable.

  • Work closely with compliance, legal, security, and architecture teams to ensure products meet applicable HIPAA, privacy, security, interoperability, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain awareness of evolving CMS interoperability requirements, ONC regulations, FHIR implementation guides, and healthcare industry standards, and translate applicable changes into product roadmap requirements.

  • Establish clear product KPIs and success metrics, including adoption, API utilization, transaction success rates, data quality, processing performance, availability, partner onboarding time, and customer experience.

  • Use product analytics, operational metrics, customer feedback, production trends, and stakeholder input to identify opportunities for product improvements and roadmap prioritization.

  • Coordinate cross-functional dependencies across product, engineering, architecture, data, security, compliance, operations, QA, and business teams to ensure successful delivery.

  • Engage with external partners, vendors, providers, health plans, and technology organizations to define integration requirements, onboarding approaches, implementation expectations, and interoperability capabilities.

  • Identify opportunities to build reusable APIs, integration services, common data capabilities, and platform components rather than developing point-to-point solutions for individual business needs.

  • Lead product discussions and communicate roadmaps, priorities, dependencies, trade-offs, risks, and delivery status to technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.

  • Provide product leadership and healthcare interoperability expertise to development teams, helping teams understand not only what needs to be delivered but the healthcare business context and why the capability is needed.

  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to evaluate emerging healthcare interoperability technologies and determine opportunities for modernization, automation, cloud adoption, and improved developer/partner experiences.

  • Champion a product-oriented approach to healthcare integration, evolving interoperability capabilities from project-specific integrations toward reusable, scalable enterprise products and services.
