As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will be part of the Hardware Engineering organization supporting Next Generation Router and Network Switch product development. The ideal candidate will have strong high-speed interface design and analysis skills, hands-on experience with PCB signal integrity and power integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams to drive robust board-level outcomes.
Job Title: Hardware Design Engineer
Location: San Jose, CA
Pay Range: $45 - $50 per hour
What's the Job?
-
Lead hardware architecture design for next generation router and network switch product development, including high-level design and critical component selection.
-
Actively work on high-speed interface design and analysis, including support for 800G line cards and other complex signal paths.
-
Perform requirement analysis and select key components for major interfaces such as Processor SoC, DDR memory, GPU, FPGA, network switch, PCIe switch, clocking, and power management devices.
-
Drive electronic product development through hardware architecture finalization, high level design, schematics capture, and design analysis.
-
Support board bring-up and validation of electrical testing for signal quality, ensuring performance across corner-case operating conditions.
What's Needed?
-
Mandatory board bring-up and validation of electrical testing for signal quality of the circuits.
-
Mandatory design and validation of power management devices, stress testing systems, and board-level functional testing to ensure product performance in all corner case work conditions.
-
Experience building PCB stack-up models and extracting requirements from tools to meet product PCB thickness, electrical signal speed, power architecture, and trace impedance needs.
-
Proficiency in pre- and post-PCB signal integrity analysis, including clock jitter analysis, high-speed eye diagram analysis, overshoot/undershoot, crosstalk analysis, DDR batch simulation, and SERDES interface simulation.
-
Ability to perform post-PCB power integrity analysis such as voltage drop analysis, current density analysis, plane noise analysis, and decoupling analysis using DC drop and current density analysis, along with thermal analysis for hot spot components and material selection (e.g., heatsink and thermal pad).
What's in it for me?
-
Work onsite in San Jose, California on a focused 9-month hardware design engagement with potential extension.
-
Contribute directly to next generation networking hardware by shaping hardware architecture, critical component choices, and board-level validation.
