Full job description

Land O’Lakes’ Supply Chain Operations team supports business units through operational excellence, quality, process improvement, and innovation. The Quality Control Inspector will work closely with Operations, Quality, and Production to help ensure finished products meet customer specifications and applicable food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Support implementation and monitoring of quality assurance programs, policies, procedures, specifications, HACCP, GMP, BRC, EQMS, and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide quality and food safety support to Quality and Production teams.

  • Assist management with maintaining quality systems and following up on corrective actions related to product safety and quality events.

  • Prepare and maintain plant audit documentation and programs.

  • Perform positive-release activities and review related HACCP records.

  • Manage external warehouse inventory and complete SharePoint updates.

  • Support laboratory calibrations and serve as a backup to the Quality Supervisor in supporting lab technicians.

  • Track non-conforming cheese downgrades and manage cheese specification deviations.

  • Provide input on whey powder specification updates and manage cheese customer samples.

  • Manage the document control program and coordinate lot traceability exercises.

  • Assist with the Environmental Monitoring Program and manage the GMP audit program.

  • Support development of quality training in coordination with the training specialist.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher, preferably in Food Science, Dairy Science, or a related field.

  • Strong background in quality assurance and dairy science.

  • Auditing skills and knowledge of corrective and preventive action processes.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or a comparable field.

Physical demands and work environment

The role may require walking, sitting, handling objects or tools, reaching, balancing, stooping, and climbing stairs or ladders. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment may include changing temperatures from cool to warm or hot, varying weather conditions, and occasional loud noise. Earplugs and other personal protective equipment are required in manufacturing areas.
