Trainer Builder Specialist for Automation
Bridgerland Technical College (BTECH) is looking for a hands-on, technically minded individual to join our team as a Part-Time Trainer Builder Specialist for Automation.
This position supports BTECH’s iATE project by helping develop, assemble, test, and deliver automation trainers used by participating educational institutions. If you enjoy building things, working with automation equipment, 3D printing, troubleshooting, and helping others learn, this could be a great opportunity to put those skills to work in a unique educational environment.
This is an On-Site Position
This is a hands-on, on-site position at Bridgerland Technical College. Because the role involves building and testing automation trainers, operating equipment, preparing workshop spaces, and working directly with participants and project partners, physical presence is required to perform the essential duties of the position. Some travel to participating institutions may also be required.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
-
Help develop, assemble, and test automation trainers.
-
Coordinate and prepare necessary parts, equipment, materials, and supplies.
-
Produce trainer components using 3D printing and other applicable equipment.
-
Maintain parts, equipment, distribution records, and related documentation.
-
Prepare trainers, equipment, materials, and workspaces for Build-a-Trainer workshops.
-
Provide hands-on instruction, troubleshooting, and technical support to workshop participants.
-
Help maintain a safe, organized workshop environment.
-
Prepare, transport, and deliver automation trainers and related materials to participating institutions.
-
Help create and maintain how-to videos, instructions, and other resources for trainer assembly, setup, and use.
-
Collaborate with BTECH employees, participating institutions, and project partners.
What We’re Looking For
A postsecondary certificate or higher in automation technology, industrial maintenance, manufacturing technology, education, or a related field is required.
The successful candidate will also have:
-
Strong technical, planning, and organizational skills.
-
The ability to work with tools, equipment, mechanical and electrical components, and 3D printing equipment.
-
The ability to follow technical instructions and complete projects accurately and on time.
-
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate parts and equipment records.
-
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with automation equipment, parts assembly, 3D printing, or related technical work is preferred.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position that requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform activities including sitting, standing, walking, grasping, pulling, pushing, squatting, bending, twisting, climbing, and tasks requiring manual dexterity and fine and gross motor skills.
The position also requires visual and auditory acuity and may involve working in office, classroom, lab, industry simulation, and industry environments. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the physical requirements.
Why BTECH?
At Bridgerland Technical College, you’ll be part of a team focused on hands-on technical education and innovative training solutions. This position offers an opportunity to use your technical skills to build real training equipment, support hands-on workshops, and help expand automation education to participating institutions.
