Position Summary:

The Cleaning Specialist (Janitorial Support) is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the store. This role ensures that all areas—including restrooms, entryways, floors, break rooms, guest seating areas, and high-touch surfaces—are cleaned regularly and meet sanitation standards. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in creating a clean, comfortable shopping and working environment for guests and team members.
Primary Position Duties:
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform routine cleaning of store areas including restrooms, floors, entryways, break rooms, offices, and windows.

Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the store.

Empty and sanitize trash and recycling receptacles in all departments and common areas.
-
Refill restroom supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and sanitizer.

Clean and disinfect high-touch areas frequently (e.g., door handles, carts, handrails, counters, guest seating areas, etc.).
-
Maintain cleanliness of exterior areas including sidewalks, entryways, and cart corrals.
-
Respond promptly to spills, messes, or clean-up needs reported by staff or guests.
-
Follow proper safety and sanitation procedures, including the use of cleaning chemicals and protective equipment.

Report maintenance needs, hazards, or supply shortages to management.
Guest Service:
-
Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner.

Provide knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries.
-
Promote and exemplify a high level of morale within the store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication with guests and team members.

Provides excellent guest service by acknowledging guests promptly and resolving matters accurately.

Displays excellent problems solving skills and prides themselves on finding the best resolution that exemplifies the “Lee’s Way- doing what’s best for our guests, our team, and our company”.

Be familiar with store services and product location to better assist the guests.
Product Handling:
-
Use and maintain cleaning tools and equipment properly (e.g., mops, brooms, vacuums, scrubbers, squeegees) to ensure effectiveness and longevity.
-
Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions, including using appropriate PPE when required.
-
Keep janitorial closets/stations clean, stocked, and organized, ensuring all supplies are properly labeled and safely stored.
-
Rinse and sanitize cleaning tools after use to prevent cross-contamination or odor buildup.
-
Return misplaced or found store items (e.g., merchandise, signage, carts) to the correct departments or team members.
-
Immediately clean up spills and hazards using the proper tools (wet floor signs, absorbents, disinfectants) to maintain a safe shopping environment.
-
Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when restocking is needed.
-
Follow proper disposal procedures for trash, recyclables, hazardous materials, and broken items.
-
Use ladders or step stools safely when cleaning hard-to-reach areas, following store safety protocols.
-
Report any broken equipment, safety hazards, or janitorial needs to store leadership promptly.
Cleanliness and Safety:
-
Follow all safety protocols when using cleaning equipment and chemicals, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
-
Use caution signage (e.g., wet floor signs) to alert team members and guests to potential hazards while cleaning.
-
Safely operate janitorial tools and equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, ladders, and extension poles.
-
Properly store and label all cleaning chemicals, ensuring they are never left unattended in guest-accessible areas.
-
Clean up spills immediately using correct absorbents and cleaners to prevent slip and fall accidents.
-
Maintain clear and clutter-free work areas in both public and backroom spaces.
-
Follow proper lifting techniques and seek help when lifting or moving heavy items to prevent injury.
-
Report any unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or injuries to store leadership immediately.
-
Understand and comply with OSHA standards, store safety policies, and local health department guidelines.

Participate in store safety trainings and drills as required
Team Collaboration:

Work cooperatively with team members to achieve store goals.

Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.

Position Requirements:
- Age Requirement: 18yrs+ Availability: 10:00am-6:00pm
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment.

Repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance.

Occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl.

Prolonged periods standing and walking.
-
Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the store.

Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting repeatedly.

Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders are required.

Restroom sanitizers and toilet bowl cleaner

Education or Skills:
Education and Experience:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Applicants currently working toward completion are welcome to apply.
