Full job description
Wafer is the fastest inference cloud for open source models. We're looking for a hands-on security engineer to help secure the systems behind our inference cloud. You'll work directly with engineers to find weaknesses, build practical protections and make security part of how we design, ship and operate software. This is an engineering role: you'll write code, review designs and own fixes. What you'll do
-
Review application, API and infrastructure designs for authentication, authorization, tenant isolation and data-handling risks.
-
Build and improve controls for identity, least-privilege access, secrets and service credentials.
-
Partner with infrastructure engineers on private networking, workload isolation and secure cloud configuration.
-
Find, prioritize and fix vulnerabilities, and verify that remediation addresses the underlying issue.
-
Improve security logging, detection and incident response, including practical tools and automation.
-
Make secure development easier through design reviews, code reviews and automated checks.
-
Work with our compliance owner to provide technical evidence for audits and customer reviews, and implement the engineering changes they require.
What we look for
-
Experience building and securing production software or cloud infrastructure.
-
Strong programming and debugging skills, with the ability to investigate unfamiliar systems and ship reliable fixes.
-
A practical understanding of application and API security, cloud identity, Linux systems, networking and secrets management.
-
Good judgment about risk and tradeoffs. You can prioritize meaningful protections and explain your reasoning clearly.
-
A record of taking ownership and working closely with engineers from investigation through remediation.
Experience with distributed systems, multi-tenant infrastructure or AI inference platforms is useful. Benefits
-
401(k) retirement plan.
-
Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance.
-
Daily lunch and dinner, unlimited PTO, and parental leave.
-
$1K/month housing stipend (post-tax) if you live within walking distance (0.5 miles) from the office.
-
Covered Uber/Waymo from/to office.
-
Relocation allowance and benefits.
-
Visa sponsorship available.
