Job Description

Insight Global’s Client is seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to support the validation, sustaining, and continuous improvement of complex electrical systems. This position will focus heavily on electrical troubleshooting, failure analysis, testing, and root cause investigation of PCBAs and system-level hardware. The ideal candidate has strong electrical engineering fundamentals and can independently troubleshoot complex hardware issues from initial failure through root cause, corrective action, and validation. This role requires someone who is comfortable working directly at the bench and enjoys soldering, probing boards, running tests, analyzing failures, and solving problems hands-on.

Responsibilities Perform hands-on electrical troubleshooting and failure analysis of PCBAs and system-level hardware Independently identify root cause of electrical failures and drive issues through corrective action and validation Troubleshoot analog, digital, power, and mixed-signal circuits Perform soldering, component rework, probing, and bench-level debugging Analyze customer returns, RMAs, production failures, and field failures Determine whether failures are related to design, components, manufacturing processes, or system integration Develop and execute electrical validation and test plans Validate components and subsystems to improve product quality and reliability Drive electrical component and PCB changes related to reliability, manufacturing, and supply-chain issues Collect, analyze, and interpret test and field data Partner cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, quality, and other engineering teams

What Success Looks Like This position is best suited for an engineer who combines strong technical depth with a willingness to stay hands-on. The successful candidate should be comfortable owning difficult electrical problems independently while still spending significant time in the lab debugging, testing, soldering, and troubleshooting hardware. Why this version is stronger: It clearly positions the job as a hands-on sustaining/validation role, emphasizes independent technical ownership, and helps screen out both candidates who have only assisted with electrical troubleshooting and senior design engineers who are no longer interested in bench-level work.

Skills and Requirements

Strong electrical validation, test, and failure analysis experience Proven ability to independently root cause PCBA and system-level electrical failures Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits, power management, and mixed-signal systems Experience reading and troubleshooting from electrical schematics Hands-on experience with soldering, rework, board probing, and hardware debugging Experience using lab equipment including: Oscilloscopes DMMs Logic analyzers Power analyzers Power supplies Demonstrated experience personally owning technical investigations, rather than solely supporting troubleshooting led by other engineers Strong ownership, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills Experience with high-speed electrical interfaces Experience with MIPI CSI, D-PHY, or C-PHY Schematic design experience Experience troubleshooting power supplies and power-management circuitry Experience analyzing field, production, or reliability data Experience supporting hardware through mass production and post-production sustaining Bash scripting or other test automation experience Ability to obtain FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment
