Full job description
Hey! We’re team Granola 👋 We’re building the leading AI-powered notepad for people in back-to-back meetings, a product that’s spreading through teams and redefining how knowledge is captured and used. We help teams turn messy call notes into structured insight, so they can spend more time focusing on what’s important and less time on admin.
Why we care about community When people find Granola, they tend to really love it. Community is how we bring that feeling offline, into a room with other people who feel the same. We’ve run 100+ events with more than 5,000 people, starting in London, and learnt a lot about what makes people come back. In SF, we’ve opened an office and run a number of events, experimenting as we go: our GTM Series, a demo night with Linear, a GTM hackathon with Anthropic and more. Now we’re looking for someone to take it beyond the experimental phase and build a well-oiled machine, known as one of the best places in SF for tech community and events. We don’t measure community in signups. It’s brand marketing, and it’s how we show people what Granola is like in person.
Our goal Make Granola one of the best AI-native, human brands for professionals.
What you’ll do You’ll own generating event ideas and community initiatives and the execution those ideas:
-
Come up with event and community ideas, and think hard about what makes an event special
-
Curate the guest list so a great group of people show up
-
Own all comms with speakers, partners and guests
-
Run logistics like a station master, so everything leaves on time
-
Own the marketing for every event, from the copy to the socials, so the room is full
-
Work closely with our brand and events teams in London, who hold the bar on how Granola shows up
-
Pitch in on big product launches when we need all hands
-
Build relationships with the top accelerators and VCs in the Bay (e.g. YC, Neo, HF0, SPC). Be there when new cohorts land, so Granola is the first tool founders reach for on day one
How you’ll know it’s working
-
Within 6 months, people in SF say Granola puts on some of the best tech events in the city
-
Before that:
-
Your events fill up are oversubscribed with the relevant folks for each event
-
Great event and community ideas keep coming
-
You own and run logistics like clockwork
About you Your background
-
5+ years in community and events, venture, startup ecosystems or partnerships
-
A track record of running great events for a tech audience consistently
-
Comfortable talking to execs and founders
Bonus points
- A strong network in Bay Area tech, with relationships across founders, accelerators or VCs
As a person, you
-
Work autonomously. You set direction together with Shre and the team, then run with it. Take feedback well - you get curious, adjust quickly, and show the change in your next piece of work
-
Sweat the details. For every event, you think about the one thing that will make people remember it and feel special. You treat the attendee experience like a user flow: from the moment someone arrives outside our office, to checking in, to knowing where the bathroom is before they have to ask
-
Get startups and tech. You’re always reading, listening and learning about the fastest-growing startups, founders and operators, and you know what founders care about
-
Have great judgment. You come up with original ideas and have the instincts to know what’s right for Granola’s brand. Our bar is high, and you’re always open to learning how to meet it
-
Roll up your sleeves. This is a founding community role. You’re as comfortable emailing a unicorn founder as you are Ubering to a restaurant yourself to pick up pizza boxes if DoorDash is horrendously late to make sure everyone’s fed. No task is beneath you
-
Love being around people. You get energy from meeting people, can work a crowd, and can say no politely but firmly
-
Embody the core Granola traits: hardworking, kind and incredibly ambitious
Compensation Base salary: $150,000–$180,000, depending on experience, plus equity We are living in the most exciting time for tool builders since Engelbart’s demo in 1968 and we want to assemble the best crew to build this future together. Our compensation philosophy is to hire the best people in the market and pay them accordingly with salary, variable, and equity. Lastly, we think amazing talent comes from all kinds of life journeys and experiences. If what is written above speaks to you, whether you look like a fit on paper or not, please reach out.
