Full job description

The Role:

The Cybersecurity and AI Law Report and Anti-Corruption Report have an immediate opening for an experienced, enthusiastic reporter or analyst to join the team on a freelance basis.

The Law Report Group products combine vigorous reporting and proprietary legal analysis to generate actionable intelligence on critical business issues.

Anti-Corruption Report (www.anti-corruption.com) is the leading in-depth information resource focused on the legal, regulatory, compliance and operational aspects of global anti-corruption and related areas such as sanctions and trade controls. This is a fun area of law: the fact patterns are often compelling and compliance, despite the name, requires behavioral insights and creativity.

Cybersecurity and AI Law Report (www.cslawreport.com) is the leading information resource focused on the legal, regulatory, compliance and operational aspects of data privacy, AI and cybersecurity. It is an especially exciting area to cover, as emerging technologies, shifting regulation and novel legal questions are constantly reshaping how companies approach privacy, AI and cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Researching and writing long-form articles of various types – including our feature thematic, Q&A, analysis and webinar/panel coverage articles – based on interviews of and other interactions with industry experts. Articles typically address developments in the field (i.e., regulations, laws, breaches, decisions, settlements, guidelines, etc.), best practices for the industry and other topics relevant to our subscribers.

  • After a training period, identifying article topics, themes, trends and ideas that are central to the day-to-day business practices of our subscribers – primarily through engagement with sources and secondarily through reading, viewing webinars and other information gathering.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key industry participants with the goals of: understanding the “pain points” experienced by practitioners (specifically, GCs, CCOs, CPOs), cultivating sources for articles, gathering industry intelligence, and exploring event and other collaboration opportunities.

  • Attending panels and webinars.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least three years of reporting or analyst experience (coverage of legal topics, specifically on AI, privacy, cybersecurity, anti-corruption, sanctions or export controls preferred).

  • Excellent reporting, writing, research, interview, organizational and analytical abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to consistently create engaging, thorough, sophisticated long form (2,500-3,000 word) articles under deadline that require minimal editing.

  • Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree preferred but not required.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent proofreading skills.

Estimated Salary Range and Benefits:

The estimated rate is $750 to $1000 per article, depending on experience and type of article.
