Full job description

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Architect and build microservices, APIs, and event-driven/asynchronous workflows for enterprise applications.
  • Build and optimize backend platforms that seamlessly integrate with AI agents, automation workflows, and external enterprise systems.
  • Own the technical architecture of backend services, ensuring scalability, security, reliability, observability, and performance.
  • Lead the design and implementation of distributed systems by driving architectural decisions, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
  • Lead backend engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and hands-on problem-solving while fostering engineering excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, AI/ML engineers, domain experts, DevOps teams, and customers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Drive engineering quality through secure coding practices, automated testing, performance optimization, and production readiness.
  • Identify and resolve technical risks, bottlenecks, and architectural challenges throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to technology roadmap planning, technical hiring, and continuous improvement of engineering processes and development standards.

The core requirements for the job include the following:

Core Skills:

  • Java Spring (Boot, Cloud, Data JPA) and microservices architecture.
  • PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, and polyglot persistence.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, and API-first design.
  • Security (JWT, OAuth2), testing (JUnit 5 Mockito, TestContainers).
  • Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing).

Preferred:

  • Neo4j, Elasticsearch, event sourcing, CQRS, and domain-driven design.
  • Business process engines, workflow orchestration.
  • Insurance domain knowledge (policies, claims, underwriting).
  • GitOps and CI/CD pipeline experience.
