Full job description

Inside Solution Engineer - Edge AI and Advanced Compute Practice Description - Role Summary The Inside Solution Engineer provides remote technical support to HP's field Solution Engineers, helping them validate solutions, resolve technical issues, and advance customer engagements. This role serves as a technical liaison between the field and the Global Business Unit (GBU), connecting customer requirements and field findings with product management, engineering, and support teams. The engineer performs hands-on lab validation and troubleshooting, coordinates escalations, and maintains technical continuity from issue intake through verified resolution. By turning field experience into reusable guidance and actionable product feedback, this role improves field productivity and solution readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Field Solution Engineer Support

  • Provide remote technical assistance with solution design, product capabilities, configurations, compatibility, and deployment considerations for Edge AI and Advanced Compute engagements.
  • Support demonstrations, proofs of concept (POCs), pilots, and deployment readiness through lab preparation, configuration reviews, technical validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop technical responses, configuration guidance, bills of materials, and supporting documentation in partnership with field Solution Engineers.

Field Issue Resolution

  • Triage field issues based on customer impact, urgency, and deployment risk; gather environment details, logs, configurations, reproduction steps, and expected behavior.
  • Reproduce and isolate hardware, firmware, driver, operating system, application, networking, and integration issues in lab environments.
  • Develop and validate workarounds with the appropriate teams, document findings, and confirm fixes with the field before closing issues.
  • Maintain clear issue records, owners, next steps, and status updates so field teams can communicate accurately with customers.

GBU Coordination and Escalation

  • Serve as the field technical liaison to GBU product management, engineering, and support teams for product questions, defects, compatibility gaps, and solution limitations.
  • Prepare actionable escalation packages that include business impact, technical evidence, reproduction steps, troubleshooting completed, and the support needed.
  • Track escalations through resolution, coordinate follow-up and fix validation, and communicate confirmed support guidance and timelines to field Solution Engineers.

Solution Validation and Field Enablement

  • Maintain representative lab configurations and test new platforms, firmware, drivers, software releases, and ISV integrations against field use cases.
  • Create and maintain troubleshooting guides, known-issue summaries, validated configurations, reference architectures, and reusable demo and POC assets.
  • Share technical updates and lessons learned with the field through training, office hours, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Identify recurring field issues and provide structured feedback to the GBU to improve product quality, documentation, serviceability, and solution readiness.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in solution engineering, technical presales, technical support, systems engineering, AI infrastructure, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience configuring, testing, and troubleshooting enterprise compute solutions across hardware, firmware, operating systems, networking, and software integration.
  • Working knowledge of Edge AI or accelerated computing, including CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, AI inference workloads, containers, and related infrastructure.
  • Ability to reproduce technical issues, analyze logs and diagnostic data, isolate likely causes, and validate corrective actions.
  • Experience coordinating technical escalations with engineering, product management, or support organizations and following issues through closure.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, strong technical documentation skills, and the ability to explain complex findings to field teams and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests, work independently, and collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HP compute platforms, enterprise support processes, and GBU or product engineering collaboration.
  • Experience with Linux, Windows, Kubernetes, APIs, scripting, and automated testing or diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA and other accelerated computing ecosystems, AI inference frameworks, computer vision, or generative AI workloads.
  • Experience supporting ISV integrations, customer POCs, production deployments, and repeatable solution validation.

What Success Looks Like Field Solution Engineers receive timely, accurate technical guidance. Issues reach the GBU with the evidence needed to act, and fixes are validated and communicated clearly. Reusable tools and documentation reduce repeat troubleshooting, while field feedback helps improve product quality and the customer deployment experience.
