Job Description
Insight Global is looking to hire a Data Fabric-Mesh Architect to help shape and advance DHS’s enterprise data fabric strategy. This person will serve as the lead technical advisor across data architecture, data engineering, data governance, and data sharing, helping translate DHS’s data fabric directive into an actionable architecture, roadmap, operating model, and adoption approach. This includes providing technical oversight and strategic direction for Databricks, while also supporting legacy data platforms and broader solution delivery efforts. This person will work closely with DHS leadership, data owners, component offices, and delivery teams to drive adoption across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will bring previous hands-on data engineering or data platform implementation experience and be comfortable contributing to technical solutioning while advising senior stakeholders on modern data capabilities, tradeoffs, and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and maintain enterprise data architecture principles, reference architectures, implementation patterns, and technical roadmaps spanning data ingestion, transformation, storage, data products, analytics, governance, metadata, lineage, security, and consumption.
- Ensure the data-fabric strategy accounts for the broader DHS data ecosystem, including legacy platforms, existing data solutions, business intelligence tools, cloud environments, data catalogs, and component-managed data assets.
- Advise clients on practical adoption of data mesh and data-fabric concepts, including domain ownership, data-product design, interoperability, metadata standards, data quality, stewardship, and producer/consumer responsibilities.
- Develop technical recommendations that balance immediate mission needs and quick wins with long-term enterprise scalability, security, governance, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with data engineers, platform engineers, architects, data scientists, analysts, and professional-services teams to review solution designs and establish reusable engineering patterns.
- Support architecture and solutioning activities, including data-modeling discussions, pipeline-design reviews, integration approaches, proof-of-concept efforts, technical troubleshooting, and code or configuration reviews as appropriate.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging data, analytics, AI, governance, integration, and observability capabilities that could improve DHS data sharing, delivery speed, or mission outcomes.
- Communicate complex technical concepts, architectural tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to both senior nontechnical stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
- Support the development of executive briefings, architecture decision records, technical white papers, roadmaps, and adoption plans.
- Mentor technical team members and help raise the program’s overall data architecture and engineering maturity.
Compensation: $62.00/hr to $68.00/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.
