Full job description

Role Number: 200693226-3337

Summary

The Spatial Intelligence Experiences team is looking for a senior software engineer to own and drive application and experience development in the novel intersection of Spatial Computing and Generative AI. You will leverage the latest features in the Apple Intelligence stack, pitch new ideas via prototyping, and ship highly polished user-facing features in places like Siri AI and Image Playground. With a sharp focus on reimagining AI features to bring unique value to the spatial environment, you will also work across Apple’s device ecosystem (iOS, macOS, iPadOS), collaborate with engineering, design, and QA teams to ship a consistent user experience to the end customer.

Description

Apps and experiences are at the core of unleashing the potential of Apple's Spatial Computing Platform. In this role, you will lead development to ship customer-facing spatial computing features powered by cutting-edge AI, such as embodied conversational AI assistants and generative spatial experiences. You will own end-to-end development of the user experience, taking an idea from prototype to technical spec to shipped code. And you will achieve this by driving strong collaboration with other engineering teams (whose software your feature may depend on), as well as design and quality assurance, making sure the shipped product meets Apple's high standard of quality and polish.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS / MS / PhD in Computer Science OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience owning and shipping consumer-facing applications or user experience features.

  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals, and strong 3D math/linear algebra fundamentals.

  • Proficiency in Swift, Objective-C, or C++. And familiarity with UI frameworks such as SwiftUI and UIKit.

  • Experience solving technical challenges across multiple layers of a software stack, such as logging and diagnosing events from application code, UI framework, system framework, and backend LLM.

  • Fluency with agentic development tools and workflows to accelerate coding, debugging, and testing.

  • Experience in collaborating with a design team to iterate on UI feature implementation and polish. Ability to clearly articulate problems and explain the trade-offs of different software solution options.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D graphics APIs and/or game engines, and demonstrated experience shipping interactive 3D applications on consumer platforms (mobile/web/game consoles/VR/etc.).

  • Experience in driving projects or complex features as a technical lead - defining new feature architecture, aligning spec and KPI with design and performance stakeholders, coordinating with dependency engineering and QA teams to land features through release milestones.

  • Experience in prototyping and developing new user experiences powered by evolving LLM capabilities, e.g. a new use case of generative imagery that drives new capabilities of an underlying diffusion model.

  • Experience in optimizing software running on mobile platforms, with goals to achieve demanding targets of power and performance.

  • Familiarity with AI feature development, such as prompting, model fine-tuning and evaluation.
