Position: Sr Payroll Tax Specialist

Position Summary: Support onboarding between new division partners and internal tax departments; gather and analyze information from new division staff and tax/payroll systems to facilitate integration; ensure Payroll Tax department processes liability payments, tax returns, notices, etc., timely and accurately; complete assigned projects (including registration for bulk filing, ACH Credit, etc.).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead and participate in projects to continuously improve tax department processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.

Track and provide overall status updates; maintain project plans and monitor overall project health.

Ensure projects meet deadlines.
-
Secure growth opportunities and initiate new projects.
-
Optimize and improve processes and overall approach where necessary.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll tax and the regulatory environment, including federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations.
-
Ability to read, understand, and analyze highly complex regulatory payroll tax information.
-
Ability to interpret and analyze complex data, make determinations independently, and ensure payroll taxes are appropriately processed.
-
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
-
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively and possess strong customer service skills.

Education & Experience:
-
Minimum of three years multi-state, multi-jurisdiction, high-volume Payroll Tax experience.
-
Minimum of one year of recent Senior, Lead, or Supervisor experience required.
-
Hands-on tax return processing experience is required.
-
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, federal, state, and local wage laws required.
-
PEO or related industry experience preferred.
-
MasterTax and Prism/HRP experience preferred.

Required Licenses and/or Certifications:
-
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% or more of the time and occasionally move about inside an office environment.

Ability to communicate information clearly in oral and written formats and exchange accurate information.

Ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions within workflow, communicate with clients, and complete tasks with speed or productivity quotas.
