What you'll do...

Role summary:

Walmart Marketplace is seeking a Principal Product Manager with deep experience building and scaling Risk Decision Platforms. You will define the vision and strategy for the platform that powers risk decisions across the seller and item lifecycle, bringing together machine learning models, risk signals, rules, policies, and workflows to enable accurate, real-time decisions. This highly strategic individual contributor role sits at the intersection of platform, AI/ML, and risk. You will shape the architecture and capabilities needed to evaluate risk, orchestrate decisions and actions, and enable risk teams to rapidly configure and optimize strategies as threats and business needs evolve.

About the team:

Marketplace Trust builds the products, platforms, and intelligence that protect the integrity of Walmart Marketplace. We determine who can sell, continuously evaluate seller and item risk, identify emerging threats, and enable appropriate actions when risk is detected. Our Risk Decision Platform provides the foundational decisioning layer across seller onboarding, lifecycle risk, fraud, compliance, item integrity, and enforcement. It brings together models, signals, rules, policies, and workflows to make consistent risk decisions at scale. We are evolving this foundation into a modern, configurable platform that enables faster strategy deployment, experimentation, explainability, governance, and continuous optimization of risk decisions globally.

What you'll do:

  • Define the multi-year product vision and architecture for a scalable, enterprise Risk Decision Platform.

  • Build decision orchestration capabilities combining ML models, risk signals, rules, policies, and downstream actions.

  • Design configurable strategy authoring that enables risk teams to build and modify complex decision logic.

  • Build simulation, champion-challenger testing, experimentation, versioning, approvals, rollback, and auditability.

  • Establish observability for decision accuracy, false positives, coverage, latency, strategy performance, and business impact.

  • Advance AI-powered capabilities for strategy creation, optimization, and decision intelligence.

  • Define platform standards and reusable capabilities across risk domains.

  • Influence Product, Engineering, Data Science, Risk, Compliance, and Operations leaders.

What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including significant experience building and scaling Risk Decision Platforms.

  • Deep expertise in decision engines, strategy/rules management, decision orchestration, and real-time risk decisioning.

  • Experience integrating ML models, risk scores, rules, policies, and third-party signals into production decision flows.

  • Strong understanding of strategy authoring, simulation, champion-challenger testing, experimentation, governance, and decision observability.

  • Experience building self-service platforms used by risk, fraud, or compliance teams to manage decision strategies.

  • Strong technical fluency across APIs, event-driven architecture, data platforms, and ML systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to define platform strategy and influence senior technical and business leaders.
