Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an Onsite Systems / Project Engineering Lead to support joint development activities for primary and secondary flight control systems in the civil aerospace industry.

In this customer-facing leadership role, you will work closely with Boeing, customer engineering and program organizations, and internal engineering teams to drive technical execution across the development lifecycle of mechanical actuation products.

You will serve as a key technical interface between the customer and internal engineering organization. The role will focus on understanding customer needs, developing and managing engineering requirements, coordinating cross-functional technical activities, resolving complex issues, and ensuring alignment between customer expectations and internal engineering execution.

The ideal candidate has experience leading aerospace engineering projects, strong technical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate activities across systems, design, test, manufacturing, quality, and program organizations.

Customer & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact between Boeing and internal engineering organizations.

  • Develop strong working relationships with customer engineering, systems, and program teams.

  • Lead technical discussions with customer stakeholders and internal engineering teams.

  • Translate customer needs into clear engineering requirements, priorities, actions, and deliverables.

  • Anticipate information gaps and ask thoughtful follow-up questions to clarify requirements, assumptions, and underlying customer needs.

  • Communicate customer decisions, requirements, risks, technical issues, and priorities to internal engineering and support organizations.

System Engineering & Requirements

  • Lead the development, clarification, and management of engineering requirements.

  • Support definition and decomposition of system and product requirements.

  • Identify technical gaps, interfaces, dependencies, and risks.

  • Support system-level technical decision making and trade studies.

  • Assist with technical documentation, engineering reviews, and customer deliverables.

Project & Cross-Functional Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional engineering activities associated with customer projects.

  • Establish priorities, track technical actions, and drive closure of engineering deliverables.

  • Facilitate technical reviews and working sessions with customer and internal teams.

  • Drive timely resolution of technical issues and engineering decisions.

But what else? (advantages, specificities, etc.)

Product Development & Technical Support

  • Support mechanical actuation products throughout the development lifecycle, from concept and preliminary design through detailed design, testing, qualification, and entry into service.

  • Provide systems-level technical guidance for rotary and linear actuation products and associated flight control applications.

  • Partner with design engineering teams to evaluate technical concepts and customer requirements.

  • Participate in design and technical reviews and provide customer-facing engineering leadership.

  • Collaborate across Actuation System business units to identify opportunities for new products and business.

Strategic Customer Engagement

  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer's technical priorities, organizational structure, processes, and business objectives.

  • Anticipate future customer needs and identify opportunities to engage internal engineering capabilities.

  • Establish productive relationships across customer engineering and program organizations.

  • Support identification of new business opportunities by understanding emerging customer requirements and future product needs.

Candidate skills & requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience

Required Experience & Skills

  • Significant engineering experience in the aerospace industry, preferably civil aerospace.

  • Experience leading engineering projects, systems engineering activities, or cross-functional technical teams.

  • Experience working directly with customers on complex engineering programs.

  • Ability to understand complex technical issues and communicate them clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with Boeing or supporting Boeing engineering and program organizations.

  • Familiarity with Boeing engineering processes, requirements practices, and development methodologies.

  • Experience with flight control systems or aerospace actuation systems.

  • Experience with rotary and linear mechanical actuation products.

  • Experience supporting new business development or customer technical proposals.

What Will Make You Successful

You will be successful in this role if you can operate effectively at the intersection of the customer, engineering, and program organizations.

You should be able to understand complex technical problems, determine what information is needed, establish priorities, coordinate the right engineering resources, and drive issues toward resolution. You will need to balance technical depth with strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Because this is a customer-facing leadership position, your ability to build trust, communicate clearly, influence decisions, and maintain alignment between Boeing and internal engineering teams will be critical.
