Full job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a team member of the Mechanical Integrity Execution team, you will be engaged in a variety of activities. Most days, you will progress on defined order execution tasks evaluating the structural integrity and mechanical behavior of compressor or package components under static and dynamic loads. You will engage in team discussions to determine the best analytical approaches for your work and the work of your colleagues in a collaborative environment. You will additionally exchange within multifunctional project teams to share the insights from your results and provide recommendations for the component design where relevant. Finally, you will contribute ideas on how to enhance our standard processes as part of our continuous improvement.

The highly successful candidate will progress over time in their areas of skill and interest and could grow into additional responsibility such as defining our internal tools and analysis methods, engaging directly with customers as an expert in supporting field service issues, or proposing and leading key projects driving process and product improvements.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • As a Mechanical Integrity Execution engineer, you will work on structural integrity topics in the field of static and dynamic analysis of highly loaded compressor components for both traditional and green energy industries.

  • You will support new unit and service projects evaluating the structural suitability of components and assemblies to meeting industry specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • You will use finite element methods to simulate stress and displacement on structures due to static or transient loads, and modal analysis to determine structural frequencies with harmonic response analysis.

  • In addition to your contract support activities you will support field issues, participate in quality improvement, and cost reduction efforts. Technical support for product engineering, manufacturing and sales will enhance your scope of work, allowing you to learn from the close cooperation at the same time.

  • You will take ownership of assigned engineering tasks and seekspecialist input where appropriate. You will also be providing technicalguidance and support to less-experienced engineers.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering(Master’s preferred) with 5 + years of Finite Element Analysis experience. Those with more years of experience may be considered for a more seniorlevel.

  • Strong proficiency in Ansys workbench, including geometry preparation, meshing, model setup, and post-processingof complex finite element models. This include shell meshing and midsurface extraction, cyclic symmetry, axisymmetric and different contactformulations.

  • Demonstrated experience in linear andnonlinear structural analysis, static and dynamic analysis, fatigueassessment, and thermal analysis, supported by sound engineeringfundamentals and hand calculations where appropriate. Strong engineeringfundamentals in strength of materials, heat transfer, vibration, structural mechanics, and fatigue.

  • Experience in stress and vibration analysisof high-speed rotor parts of turbomachines, schrink fit components andcasings.

  • Practical experience with Siemens NX,including defeaturing and modification of 3D geometry for efficient andreliable FEA model preparation. Experience in automation and integrationof engineering workflows, particularly involving Ansys Workbench and NXusing tools such as MATLAB, Excel, and Python.

  • Preferred candidates will have experiencein field failure investigation, turbomachinery, and knowledge of API,ASME, DIN EN codes related to centrifugal compressors, as well asexperimental modal analysis experience.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
