Full job description

Description

At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, innovative and driven leaders. If you would like to help us build the place to find and buy anything online, this is your chance to make history and be involved in growing our business by leading and supporting new building expansion and change.

The Rapid Asset Deployment (RAD) organization is growing globally to improve our responsiveness to our customers. RAD is part of Tech Supply Chain, which manages datacenter spare parts deployed across the Amazon's global network.

We are looking for a Process Engineering Manager to lead a team of process engineers who design, standardize and scale the operational processes and site layouts that power RAD. You will partner closely with Operations, IT Engineering, Program Management and Sales & Operations Execution to build repeatable, documented and scalable foundations ahead of significant volume growth. You will own process engineering for RAD sites, including the quality of our processes, the standards behind them, and the people who build them.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the process engineering roadmap, including site layout and warehouse process design for new and expanding RAD sites, and deliver against it.

  • Drive standardization across sites. Define and maintain process maps, flows, SOPs and standard work, and ensure they are consistently adopted and audited.

  • Own process quality. Oversee PFMEA and control plans throughout the process life cycle, and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions on customer and operational issues.

  • Define and own the process health and quality metrics reported to the leadership team. Ensure they are accurate, relevant and drive continuous improvement.

  • Lead the process design and rollout of new equipment, device types, sites and workflows, including requirements, trials, readiness reviews and hand-off to Operations.

  • Work with Operations leadership to prepare for peak and high-volume periods, so that capacity, layout and process readiness are planned ahead of time rather than handled by firefighting.

  • Hire, develop and lead a team of process engineers. Set clear priorities, coach for growth, and protect the team's time for engineering work over day-to-day floor support.

A day in the life

Your day may include coaching your engineers on a layout or process design, reviewing a root cause analysis with an operations leader, aligning with IT on requirements for a new system capability, and reviewing quality and process-health metrics with site teams. You will balance near-term operational needs against long-term investments in standard, scalable processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of manufacturing or manufacturing engineering experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

  • 5+ years of managing people and large scale programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement principles & techniques

  • Experience in complex work environments, including (but not limited to robotics, automation, diagnostic and test equipment)
