Cost Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team. This role is pivotal in maintaining accurate journal entries, conducting thorough cost analyses, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. You will support the month-end and year-end close processes and prepare financial and operational reports that guide management decisions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

• Assist with month-end and year-end close related to cost accounting.

• Prepare detailed financial and operational reports for management.

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes and monitor variances.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

• Analyze and monitor production, labor, material, and overhead costs.

• Analyze purchase price variances (PPV) and investigate root causes.

• Prepare and maintain standard costs and conduct variance analysis.

• Identify cost trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for savings.

• Support internal and external audits as needed.

Essential Skills

• Strong analysis background.

• At least 2-3 years of manufacturing experience.

• Proficiency in cost accounting, accounting, reconciliation, and reporting.

• General ledger and month-end close processes expertise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 25 years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience preferred.

• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

• Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.

• Ability to analyze and explain balance sheet and income statement activity.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate variances and identify root causes.

• Ability to clearly communicate accounting and financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

• Strong collaboration skills across accounting, operations, purchasing, and leadership.

Work Environment

The role involves working closely with various departments including accounting, operations, and purchasing. You will participate in collaborative efforts and communicate complex financial concepts to diverse teams. The work environment is dynamic, emphasizing both independent analysis and teamwork to achieve organizational objectives.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
