Wanna Join the Adventure?

Loft Orbital is looking for a Satellite Programs Intern to support technical program management across our satellite programs in Golden, Colorado for Summer 2027. You’ll work alongside our Satellite Programs team, helping turn customer and mission needs into executable satellite programs from early planning through launch and early orbit operations.

This internship sits at the intersection of engineering and business. You’ll work across technical disciplines, contribute to real program execution, and help improve the tools and processes our teams use to manage cost, schedule, risk, and technical scope.

About This Role As a Satellite Programs Intern, you’ll work alongside Satellite Program Managers and cross-functional engineering teams to support active programs while also owning meaningful work that helps strengthen how the team operates.

Depending on team priorities and active programs during the summer, you may:

  • Support the execution of a satellite program alongside a Satellite Program Manager

  • Build, refine, or maintain program schedules, including Integrated Master Schedules (IMS)

  • Develop or improve tools and processes used to track program risks, actions, and dependencies

  • Support cost tracking, forecasting, and program reporting activities

  • Help coordinate technical scope, priorities, and information across cross-functional teams

  • Own program management process-improvement projects across schedule, cost, risk, or technical scope

  • Analyze program data and translate findings into clear updates, recommendations, or next steps

  • Present your work and key learnings at the end of the internship

Projects may vary based on team priorities, but could include improving an Integrated Master Schedule template, building a program risk register and supporting risk reviews, or developing a bottoms-up cost estimate for an active satellite program.

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in an engineering discipline, Aerospace Engineering, Project or Program Management, or another technically focused field; undergraduate students must be rising juniors or rising seniors

  • Hands-on experience through coursework, research, student teams, clubs, internships, or other project-based work

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with Excel, data, or similar tools

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to collaborate across teams and technical disciplines

  • Curiosity, initiative, and comfort navigating ambiguity

Nice to Haves

  • Experience participating in multidisciplinary student teams such as rocketry, robotics, CubeSat, or similar organizations

  • Coursework or exposure to project management, systems engineering, scheduling, risk management, or related topics

  • Previous internship or co-op experience

  • Previous aerospace, satellite, or space-industry exposure

During Your Internship, You Can Expect To

  • Gain hands-on experience contributing to real satellite programs

  • Own meaningful work with tangible deliverables you can point to at the end of the summer

  • Receive ongoing mentorship and feedback from your mentor and manager

  • Work across engineering and business teams and learn how complex satellite programs are executed

  • Build relationships with fellow interns and Loft employees

  • Share your work and key learnings at the end of the internship

Compensation & Logistics

  • Hourly compensation: $30.00/hour

  • Timing: Full-time, 10–12 week Summer 2027 internship. Start and end dates will be coordinated based on school schedule and team availability.

  • Location: On-site in Golden, Colorado

  • Relocation: Loft offers housing/relocation support for interns traveling from outside the local area.

  • In-office perks: Daily catered lunches and snacks
