Full job description
Sales Area Manager - Silicon Valley & Central Coast
Location: Remote in Peninsula / South Bay. Territory: Peninsula, South Bay, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Fresno.
You will own NI's business in the densest engineering market in the world. The companies building AI chips, data center hardware, satellites, EVs, and medical devices all need to test what they build. NI makes the hardware and software they test it with.
This is a sales position, compensation has a strong base salary plus uncapped commission, car and office allowance.
What you will actually do
-
Own a sales territory with its number. You build the plan, you run it.
-
Win new engineering teams at semiconductor, AI infrastructure, aerospace, and medtech companies (50-1,000 employees is the sweet spot).
-
Sell test systems: PXI, CompactDAQ, CompactRIO, LabVIEW, TestStand.
-
Run technical discovery with engineers, then close with program and business leaders.
-
Direct a support team: applications engineers, distributors, and integration partners. You are not alone on technical depth.
-
Host local events and customer sessions. Budget exists for it.
Requirements:
-
3+ years selling technical products to engineers (test & measurement, EDA, semiconductor equipment, embedded, industrial automation, or lab instruments), OR
-
You are an applications engineer, sales engineer, or field engineer who wants to own a number.
-
You can hold a whiteboard conversation with a test engineer and a budget conversation with a VP.
-
A record of finding new business, not only managing existing accounts.
-
Willing to drive the territory (Fresno and Monterey a few times a quarter) and carry demo gear.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Engineering degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
-
Existing relationships in Bay Area semiconductor, electronics, robotics, medical devices or aerospace.
-
Experience working with distributors and partner ecosystems.
Why this seat
-
Uncapped commission in a market with real demand.
-
Emerson's scale, NI's engineering brand.
-
Clear path to senior territory or key account roles.
