Full job description

Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

Schwab’s Financial Crimes Risk Management Shared Services organization builds technology that helps financial crimes professionals reduce repetitive work and focus on risk decisions requiring human judgment. As an AI Developer, you will design, build, test, deploy, and support production-ready AI agents and automated workflows using Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and related development tools.

This is an opportunity to turn complex business and risk needs into practical AI-enabled solutions that improve operational effectiveness and strengthen financial crimes risk management. You will collaborate with business users, process owners, technical teams, and control partners; make thoughtful architecture and integration decisions; evaluate quality and edge cases; and continuously improve solutions after launch.

You will join a collaborative environment where innovation is grounded in responsible development, strong controls, and service to our clients and colleagues. At Schwab, we lead with integrity and service, succeed together as One Schwab, and empower employees to own their tomorrow through meaningful work, continuous learning, and opportunities to grow as AI capabilities evolve.

What you’ll do

  • Design and develop AI agents, automated workflows, and AI-enabled applications using Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Dataverse, and related development capabilities.

  • Translate business, process, risk, and control requirements into scalable solution architectures and production-ready technical designs.

  • Build custom agents, plugins, actions, orchestration patterns, custom connectors, integrations, and data structures that support reliable end-to-end solutions.

  • Integrate applications and workflows with APIs, approved data sources, connectors, and enterprise systems.

  • Write, review, troubleshoot, and improve code supporting AI, automation, integration, and data-processing solutions.

  • Own solutions throughout design, development, testing, documentation, deployment, monitoring, production support, and continuous improvement.

  • Evaluate solution quality, edge cases, traceability, human-review needs, security considerations, and responsible handling of sensitive data.

  • Monitor production performance, analyze logs, resolve incidents, remediate defects, and maintain operational stability.

  • Communicate technical decisions clearly and collaborate across business, technology, and control teams.

  • Explore emerging AI capabilities and recommend practical approaches that can improve adoption, effectiveness, and scalability.

Location & Work Arrangement: This hybrid role requires four days per week in the office and one remote workday. Candidates must live in, or be willing to relocate on their own to one the listed locations.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you have

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of “challenging the status quo,” this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development, application development, automation engineering, or related experience, including at least 1 year of hands-on experience developing solutions with Microsoft Power Platform or Microsoft Copilot Studio.

  • Hands-on experience developing AI agents, automated workflows, or AI-enabled applications using Microsoft Power Platform.

  • Experience developing advanced solutions in Microsoft Copilot Studio, including custom agents, plugins, actions, or orchestration patterns.

  • Experience with Power Automate and Dataverse, including data models, tables, security structures, and integrations, as well as custom connectors or related Microsoft development capabilities.

  • Software development or computer science foundation with the ability to write, review, troubleshoot, and improve code.

  • Experience translating business requirements into scalable solution architectures and production-ready designs.

  • Experience integrating applications or workflows with APIs, connectors, approved data sources, or enterprise systems.

  • Experience owning solutions through design, development, testing, documentation, deployment, monitoring, and production support.

  • Experience troubleshooting production solutions through log analysis, issue remediation, and operational support.

  • Ability to collaborate across business, technology, and control teams and communicate technical decisions clearly.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience delivering AI, automation, internal application, or case-management solutions in a production environment.

  • Proficiency with Python, C#, or another modern programming language used for AI, automation, integration, or data engineering.

  • Experience designing solutions that incorporate controls, traceability, testing, human review, and responsible handling of sensitive data.
