Full job description

Description

SAIC is seeking a highly capable Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) / Digital Engineering Specialist to support our work at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, Indiana in direct support of the NSWC Crane Multi-Service Advanced Capabilities Hypersonics (MACH)-CORE program .

In this role, you will lead the integration, translation, and analysis of advanced digital weapons system models into high-fidelity mission simulation environments. This position directly supports the ingestion of digital engineering artifacts from the MACH-XL program — often delivered in highly complex or unfamiliar data formats — and ensures accurate, efficient translation into the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) .

This is a high-impact, on-site role that places you at the intersection of digital engineering, modeling & simulation, and cutting-edge hypersonic weapons development — contributing directly to programs that define the future of national defense.

The ideal candidate is an analytical problem-solver with hands-on experience in modeling & simulation, digital engineering environments, and the development of utility scripts or parsing tools to translate complex data structures into executable, simulation-ready components.

What You’ll Do

Digital Engineering Model Integration

  • Receive, interpret, and analyze digital engineering models, datasets, and design artifacts generated by MACH-XL and other external programs

  • Develop automated or semi-automated parsing utilities to convert structural, behavioral, and parametric data into AFSIM-compliant model structures

  • Troubleshoot model ingestion challenges, data misalignment, structural inconsistencies, and format translation issues

AFSIM Simulation & Scenario Development

  • Integrate translated models into AFSIM and conduct scenario development, system representation, and mission-level simulation

  • Execute operations analysis to assess system behavior, performance, interoperability, and mission effectiveness

  • Validate and verify translated models to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and alignment with program objectives

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Collaborate with system engineers, data modelers, and mission analysts to refine modeling assumptions and ensure accurate simulation fidelity

  • Document translation workflows, modeling assumptions, and analytical outcomes to support repeatability and technical review

  • Communicate findings, analytical outcomes, and modeling recommendations clearly to program stakeholders across DoD

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline and 9 years’ experience

  • Demonstrated experience with modeling and simulation tools , preferably AFSIM or comparable mission-level frameworks

  • Familiarity with digital engineering models and structured data formats including XML, JSON, STEP, and proprietary DE schemas, with experience translating parametric data

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB for data processing, parsing, and model automation

  • Ability to understand and interpret system designs, subsystem relationships, and performance parameters

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to design experiments, assess outcomes , and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with hypersonic digital engineering artifacts or other advanced weapon system models

  • Working experience with AFSIM

  • Understanding of M&S verification and validation (V&V) , configuration management, and model lifecycle processes

  • Experience integrating multi-domain or multi-platform models in mission-level simulation environments

  • Familiarity with hypersonics, advanced weapons concepts , or aerospace system architecture

  • Active certifications such as Security+, AFSIM training , or other relevant credentials
