Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and operate our global network infrastructure across on-premises data centers and cloud environments. This role requires deep expertise in core networking technologies as well as hands-on experience with cloud networking. You'll leverage your strong understanding of routing, switching, security, and connectivity - spanning WAN/LAN, VPN, firewalls, and cloud network architecture - to ensure our environments are secure, resilient, and performant. You will also play a key role in driving and tracking the execution of complex projects and using data to guide decisions and improvements.
Responsibilities Include:
Network architecture & design: Design, build, and maintain robust, secure, and scalable network solutions across on-premises data centers and AWS cloud environments.
Core network engineering: Provide hands-on expertise across TCP/IP, routing and switching, VPN and tunneling technologies, site-to-site VPNs, and firewall installation and configuration.
Cloud networking: Configure and manage AWS network infrastructure including VPCs, VPC peering, transit gateways, CIDR block planning and allocation, security groups, route tables, and hybrid connectivity back to on-premises environments.
Monitoring & troubleshooting: Implement and maintain network monitoring toolsets; perform deep packet analysis and network tracing using Wireshark and similar tools to diagnose and resolve complex connectivity and performance issues.
Vendor management: Work directly with Cisco and other network equipment vendors on hardware selection, support escalations, lifecycle planning, and licensing.
Automation & optimization: Identify and implement opportunities to automate configuration, monitoring, and management tasks to increase efficiency and reliability.
Project execution: Drive and manage the successful delivery of complex network projects, ensuring milestones are met and issues are resolved promptly.
Stakeholder communication: Develop and deliver clear presentations to leadership and other teams to communicate strategy, status updates, and performance metrics.
Data analysis: Use strong data analysis and Excel skills to understand and reconcile cost, inventory, capacity, trend, risk, and performance metrics.
Collaboration: Work closely with systems, cloud, security, operations, and application teams to integrate best practices across the technology stack.
Documentation & support: Develop and maintain detailed documentation of network designs, configurations, topologies, and processes; provide technical guidance and support to other team members.
Continuous improvement: Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies, tools, and best practices to advance our network capabilities.
Qualifications:
-
7-10 years of experience engineering and administering global network environments.
-
Deep expertise in core networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, routing protocols, switching, DNS, DHCP, and QoS.
-
Strong hands-on experience with VPN and tunneling technologies, including site-to-site VPN design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
-
Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and managing enterprise firewalls.
-
Hands-on experience with network monitoring platforms and packet-level tracing and analysis using tools such as Wireshark.
-
Experience designing and managing network infrastructure in both on-premises data centers and AWS, including VPCs, VPC peering, CIDR block planning, route tables, and hybrid connectivity.
-
Demonstrated experience working with Cisco and other network equipment vendors, including hardware deployment, configuration, and support escalation.
-
Extensive experience working in CLI environments; scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, or similar) is a plus.
-
Demonstrated ability to drive execution of complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
-
Excellent data analysis and advanced Excel skills.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to articulate ideas and thoughts clearly and easily in varied contexts and through multiple mediums.
-
Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
-
Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks.
-
Proven experience in directly and indirectly leading engineering teams and projects.
-
Ability to quickly and independently learn, discover, and understand new technologies, products, software, and deployments.
-
Bachelor's degree (4-year) required.
-
Relevant Cisco (CCNP or equivalent) and AWS certifications preferred.
