Full job description

Scale is looking for a Technical Revenue Accounting Manager to join our growing accounting team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You will ensure revenue is recorded accurately and on time, support the monthly close, and review contracts both during negotiation and after signature. You will also work on new accounting standards and complex transactions, with room to keep building your technical skills.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, self-motivated team player with strong U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 expertise, a passion for delivering quality results, and a track record of turning technical research into practical solutions.

You will:

  • Own revenue recognition: Ensure revenue is booked correctly and on time, and that the company remains compliant with ASC 606

  • Contract review: Review standard and non-standard contracts, during negotiation and after signature, to determine the appropriate revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP

  • Month-end close: Assist with monthly close activities, including journal entry preparation and review and key account reconciliations

  • Technical accounting: Analyze and operationalize complex transactions under U.S. GAAP including revenue, cost to fulfill, and commissions

  • Policies and standards: Monitor, assess, and implement new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company, and help draft and maintain the accounting policy library

  • Partner cross-functionally: Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and business stakeholders on revenue metrics, flux analysis, forecasts, and projections (e.g., develop the internally developed software policy with Engineering, analyze commission plans with Sales Ops and Strategy)

  • Drive process improvement: Identify and implement process improvements that keep pace with our growth and scale with the business

  • External audit: Work with external auditors on revenue and technical accounting matters

Ideally you'd have:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, or a combination of public accounting and private industry; Big 4 experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA license required

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606, including review of non-standard contracts

  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to convert technical research and interpretation into a practical solution

  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate across different business units

  • Self-starter with a strong interest in learning

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working in a high-growth startup and public company environments

  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
