Full job description

About the Role Lignetics makes consumable products, including heating pellets, animal bedding, and grilling pellets, where demand moves with weather, seasonality, and retailer inventory. As part of the IT team, you will build and maintain the commercial BI environment, analyze the signals that drive demand, and deliver the reporting and insight senior leadership uses to run the business. You will use modern analytics and AI tools to get there faster. What You Will Do • Build analysis and tools on point-of-sale, on-hand inventory, weather, and internal sales data that signal changes in demand by category, customer, and region. • Surface those signals early (sell-through shifts, inventory build or depletion, weather departures from normal) so the forecast and commercial teams can act on them. • Prepare and present regular sales performance reporting to senior leadership. • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and automated reporting and alerts that reduce manual work. • Integrate data from Salesforce, retailer portals, external sources, and acquired businesses into reliable BI sources. • Own data integrity across BI sources: identify and troubleshoot discrepancies, trace them to root cause, resolve them with source-system owners, and put checks in place so they don't recur. Maintain consistent KPI definitions. • Use AI tools to speed up analysis, coding, and reporting, and validate output before it reaches decision-makers. • Partner with commercial and cross-functional teams on requirements and ad-hoc analysis. What You Bring Required • 3+ years in analytics, BI, or data science supporting sales, revenue, or demand planning, ideally in CPG, retail, agriculture, energy, or another seasonal or consumption-driven business. • Strong SQL and Python or R, plus advanced Excel and Access. • Applied statistics: regression, time series, and trend analysis. • Hands-on experience with a visualization tool such as Tableau or Power BI. • Demonstrated use of AI/LLM tools in real analytical work, with examples you can walk us through. • Track record of diagnosing and fixing data quality issues across multiple source systems. • Ability to explain analysis, and its limits, to non-technical executives in plain language. • Ownership mindset: you take a messy question to a finished answer without being managed step by step. Preferred • Experience with retailer POS and inventory data (e.g., retailer portals, syndicated data). • Experience analyzing weather- or seasonally-driven demand. • Familiarity with Salesforce and ERP sales data. • Experience with cloud data platforms and pipeline tools. • Experience integrating data from acquisitions/disparate data sources. What Success Looks Like • 90 days: You know our data, categories, and customers; you have validated the core performance reporting and shipped your first automation. • 6 months: Demand-signal analysis (POS, on-hand inventory, weather) is live for our major categories and feeding the forecast and pre-season planning cycle. • 12 months: Demand shifts are flagged ahead of the forecast, manual reporting time is materially reduced, and leadership relies on your analysis for customer and inventory decisions. Benefits - Annual Bonus Eligibility - Employee referral bonus program - PTO + 2 floating holidays - Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance (FSA & HSA options) - Educational assistance - Life insurance, short term & long-term disability - 401(k) with employer match & immediate vesting - Employee heating pellet program - Lignetics SWAG gear to include an annual pair of work boots & other PPE
