Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to join a high-visibility digital health initiative focused on expanding and enhancing a healthcare platform that connects patients, providers, pharmacies, payers, and external healthcare technology partners. This individual will serve as the technical lead for complex integration efforts, helping evaluate, design, and implement secure, scalable solutions that connect the platform with third-party vendors, Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, healthcare providers, and external partners. The ideal candidate combines strong cloud architecture expertise with deep knowledge of healthcare integrations, APIs, identity/security protocols, and provider connectivity. This person will own the solution from requirements gathering through rollout, partnering closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to evaluate options, conduct proof-of-concepts, and drive architectural decisions. While this is not a hands-on development role, candidates must be highly technical and capable of guiding engineering teams through design, implementation, troubleshooting, and production deployments. Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end solutions for integrating healthcare providers, payer systems, pharmacies, EHR platforms, and third-party technology vendors.
- Evaluate integration approaches and conduct proof-of-concepts (POCs) to determine optimal technical solutions.
- Make architectural recommendations around APIs, interface design, cloud infrastructure, security, authentication, and data exchange patterns.
- Define secure connectivity strategies between internal platforms and external healthcare organizations.
- Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Present architectural options, tradeoffs, and recommendations to leadership teams and drive alignment on final designs.
- Guide engineering teams through implementation and production rollout activities.
- Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during implementation and post-launch activities.
- Architect solutions across cloud and hybrid environments, leveraging primarily Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
- Drive standardization and reusable integration patterns across multiple ongoing initiatives.
Compensation: $75-85/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
Skills and Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect, Integration Architect, or Solution Engineer, designing and implementing enterprise integration solutions involving third-party platforms and external partners.
- Deep expertise in FHIR R4/R5 — resource modeling, RESTful APIs, bulk data operations, and CDS Hooks.
- Hands-on experience designing custom API integrations with external healthcare providers (payers, PBMs, EHRs, benefits platforms).
- Strong command of modern auth patterns: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SMART on FHIR, JWT, mTLS, and API gateway security.
- Healthcare regulatory fluency: HIPAA Privacy/Security Rules, CMS Interoperability and Patient Access rules, 21st Century Cures Act.
- Experience with agentic AI architecture — LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), tool/function calling, multi-agent patterns.
- Proven track record delivering integration solutions at enterprise scale in health plan, PBM, or provider organizations.
- Broad digital solution architecture background — hands-on experience designing and shipping production apps and websites, not just integration layers, including native mobile (iOS, Android), cross-platform frameworks (Flutter, React Native), and modern web/responsive front-ends.
- Strong cloud architecture experience, preferably within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Hands-on technical background with Java and Spring Boot, with the ability to effectively partner with engineering teams and review technical solutions.
- Experience evaluating multiple technical approaches, conducting POCs, and making architectural recommendations.
- Experience with Da Vinci Implementation Guides (PDex, CDex, PAS, Prior Auth).
- Familiarity with TEFCA / QHINs and emerging health information network standards.
- Exposure to CVS Health, Caremark, Aetna, or similar health plan/PBM ecosystems.
- Knowledge of CMS IAL2 identity assurance requirements.
- Cloud architecture experience on GCP or Azure in a healthcare context (HIPAA BAA in place).
- Prior work with benefits enrollment platforms (bswift, Workday Benefits) or HSA/FSA custodians.
- CMS Medicare integration experience — Medicare Advantage APIs, Part D data exchange, EOB/Claims resources via Blue Button 2.0, and CMS-mandated Prior Authorization API (CMS-0057).
