Job Description

The Financial Analyst is responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis activities to support organizational goals and ensure fiscal accountability. This role analyzes and reconciles financial data, maintains general ledger accuracy, prepares financial reports in accordance with GAAP, and assists with the development and management of annual budgets. The Financial Analyst partners with leadership to provide financial insights, conduct variance analyses, support strategic planning, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Additional responsibilities include monitoring restricted and special revenue funds, supporting audits, maintaining internal controls, managing capital asset records, and improving financial systems and reporting processes. This individual will also provide guidance and training to stakeholders on budgeting and accounting practices while serving as a key resource for financial decision-making.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, or related finance functions

  • Experience preparing financial reports and reconciling general ledger accounts

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management systems Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Public sector, government, or municipal finance experience

  • School district or K-12 education finance experience

  • Experience managing grants, restricted funds, or special revenue funds

  • Experience supporting internal or external audits

  • Knowledge of capital asset management and inventory controls

  • Experience with financial system implementations, testing, or reporting tool enhancements

  • CPA, CMA, CPFO, SFO, PMP, or other relevant professional certification Experience providing financial training or guidance to non-financial stakeholders
