The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Ebony E. Prophet-Bullock, Ed.D., is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

CURRICULUM INSTRUCTOR SATURDAY PROGRAMS

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a valid NYS teaching certificate and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools. Candidates must hold a certification in one of the following areas: Literacy, Elementary Education, English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Special Education, Physical Education, Health, Spanish, Art, Music, TESOL, CTE, Library Services, School Counselor, School Social Worker, or serve as an Instructional Technology Coach (ITC).

  • Candidates must work with MBK/MSK programs during the after-school program.

  • Candidates must provide a full day of instruction and/or supervise programming for the MBK/MSK Saturday Academies from November 2026-June 2027. Program dates will be provided.

  • Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of either African American, Latinx, or Indigenous American history and culture and demonstrate a willingness to receive professional development in these areas.

  • Attend informational staff meetings as scheduled on Wednesday evenings the week of Saturday Academy

  • Assist students in creating a culmination project to be displayed/presented at Urban Forum

RESPONSIBILITIES: Our Story Project Instructors shall report to the MBK/MSK Program Building Principal and the Director of CLRI. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and deliver curriculum for the OSP program.

  • Attend training related to anti-racist pedagogy and culturally and linguistically responsive classroom instruction.

  • Participate in curriculum development sessions to ensure a rigorous, relevant, culturally responsive curriculum.

  • Guide students through highly engaging inquiry-based learning experiences using hip-hop, music, lyrics, and culture whereby they will be able to integrate their personal narratives within their respective historical and cultural contexts.

  • Integrate technology into learning experiences.

  • Collect data to measure program efficacy.

  • Manage instructional supplies and materials.

  • Chaperone students on local field trip experiences and facilitate field taxonomies that will expand student learning of topics.

  • Comfortable talking to students about race and equity.

APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the building Principal, the Director of CLRI and the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and personal interview. SALARY: Contract Rate
