Full job description
Veda provides the vault infrastructure that enables institutions, protocols, and applications to offer onchain yield products. Our technology supports billions in assets across multiple blockchain networks, with partners including Kraken, EtherFi, and MetaMask. We’re hiring a Customer Engineering Lead to own the customer experience end to end: understanding what customers need, designing a path forward, translating requirements into engineering work, and driving delivery through launch and ongoing operations. You’ll combine strong DeFi fundamentals, practical software engineering skills, and exceptional communication. Customers should trust you to understand their business and technical constraints. Engineers should trust you to bring clear requirements, informed judgment, and well-scoped work.
THE ROLE You will be the primary owner of customer engagements, from technical discovery and onboarding through production launch and ongoing success. You’ll lead customer conversations, investigate issues directly, organize the work required across Veda, and stay accountable until the customer’s needs are met. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for building the customer engineering function. You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and growth to make customer delivery more predictable and turn recurring work into repeatable processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Own customer relationships and communication. Build trust with technical and business stakeholders, lead regular conversations, communicate progress proactively, and address concerns before they escalate. Make sure customers know what is happening, what decisions are needed, and what comes next.
-
Lead technical discovery and solution design. Understand each customer’s goals, architecture, and operational constraints. Map those requirements to Veda’s capabilities, explain tradeoffs, and identify gaps that require product or engineering decisions.
-
Translate requests into actionable engineering work. Produce clear specifications and tickets covering expected behavior, technical context, dependencies, acceptance criteria, and open questions. Resolve ambiguity before it creates unnecessary implementation work.
-
Drive delivery from intake through acceptance. Establish owners and milestones with engineering, coordinate dependencies, surface risks early, and validate that delivered functionality meets the customer’s requirements.
-
Investigate technical issues directly. Inspect onchain transactions, contract state, API responses, and logs. Reproduce problems, build small scripts or integration examples, and bring engineering a useful diagnosis when deeper investigation is needed.
-
Standardize vault launches and operations. Own the customer delivery process, including intake requirements, configuration decisions, launch checklists, documentation, and operational handoffs. Identify recurring friction and work with engineering to eliminate it.
-
Own ongoing customer success. Stay close to adoption, satisfaction, and changing requirements after launch. Coordinate customer communication during incidents and follow through on resolution and corrective actions.
-
Use AI to improve execution. Apply AI tools to research, debugging, specification development, documentation, and workflow automation. Verify outputs and remain accountable for technical accuracy and customer commitments.
YOU HAVE
-
A track record of owning complex customer engagements in a technical role, such as customer engineering, solutions engineering, integration engineering, forward deployed engineering, or technical consulting.
-
Strong DeFi and Web3 fundamentals. You understand smart contracts, wallets, token approvals, vaults, lending, liquidity, and deposit and withdrawal mechanics, including their operational risks and tradeoffs.
-
Hands-on experience with block explorers and blockchain tooling. You can inspect transactions and events, read contract interfaces and relevant Solidity code, and reason about permissions and the movement of assets.
-
Practical software engineering skills. You can work with APIs and SDKs, read an unfamiliar codebase, write scripts in a language such as Python or TypeScript, and investigate issues across onchain and offchain systems.
-
Exceptional written and verbal communication. You can lead a technical discussion with customer engineers, explain a tradeoff to a business stakeholder, and write a specification that an engineering team can act on.
-
Strong execution and organizational judgment. You can turn an ambiguous request into a concrete plan, manage competing priorities, and drive work across teams through completion.
-
The confidence to set realistic expectations, challenge assumptions constructively, and distinguish confirmed facts from questions that still need investigation.
-
Experience using AI tools in real workflows, with the technical judgment to evaluate and correct their output.
EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE
-
Built or supported DeFi vaults, institutional crypto integrations, or products involving lending, staking, or cross-chain infrastructure.
-
Worked directly with exchanges, wallets, asset managers, or other enterprise crypto customers.
-
Created implementation playbooks, intake systems, or automation that improved delivery across multiple customers.
-
Shipped production software or smart contracts and supported them after launch.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE Customers have a technically credible partner who understands their needs and follows through. Engineering receives clear, validated requirements. Launches become more predictable, recurring issues become less frequent, and customer feedback informs product decisions. You’ll help define how Veda works with its customers as we grow, with substantial ownership over both individual engagements and the systems that make great delivery repeatable.
COMPENSATION Competitive salary and equity, with compensation reflecting experience, technical depth, and the scope of responsibility.
