Full job description

As a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer at CMT, you’ll design, build, and maintain scalable web applications that power our telematics platform. You’ll work across the tech stack—from intuitive user interfaces to robust backend systems—solving complex problems in collaboration with product, design, and data teams. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, mentors others, and brings a strong sense of ownership and curiosity. Your work will directly impact how users experience CMT’s products and contribute to our mission of making roads safer around the world.

CMT is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack to help us change the world. CMT has helped protect over 65 million drivers and prevent over 126,000 crashes worldwide. We build AI to solve some of the most difficult challenges in mobility — understanding and reducing risk, detecting crashes, and getting people life-saving help. The problems are hard. The impact is real. No matter your role, your work will matter at CMT.

In this role you'll help build innovative new products such as StreetVision on top of CMT’s massive body of aggregated, anonymized driving data to enable traffic safety officials, transportation planners, research institutions, and engineers to improve road safety and reduce crashes. You’ll be part of a small, agile team driving new product development for our newly formed Geospatial product group.

Responsibilities:

  • Solve complex problems and transform them into business solutions in collaboration with team members

  • Analyze and translate business and functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications suitable for implementation

  • Able to independently transform complex technical requirements into smaller implementable pieces; able to implement performant software solutions that are maintainable, scalable, reliable and testable

  • Participate in code and design reviews

  • Participate in the hiring process

  • Train and guide junior developers on proper software development procedures and methods

  • Follow company defined development and operational standards and processes

  • Provide on-call support during business critical emergency scenarios. Support and troubleshoot production issues as needed

  • Complete any additional tasks as they arise

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in a technical field

  • 4+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience developing web applications and proficiency in web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript).

  • Experience with web frameworks like React and Django is a plus.

  • Experience designing or developing Restful APIs or web services

  • Knowledge of a backend development language like Python

  • Comfortable working with AWS services: EC2, S3, Lambda, SNS, SQS, RDS (Postgres), NoSQL

  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies (specifically SCRUM)

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Customer obsessed, demonstrates initiative, has a learning mindset, takes ownership

  • Proven ability to deliver results

  • An analytical mindset

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with React UI and Typescript/Javascript

  • Experience creating modern web applications

  • Experience with Geospatial and/or map-based visualization (Deck.gl, Google Maps)

  • Experience with data visualization frameworks (eCharts)

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Fair and competitive salary based on skills and experience, and annual performance bonus

  • Equity may be awarded in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)

  • Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, matching 401k, short-term & long-term disability and parental leave

  • Unlimited Paid Time Off including vacation, sick days & public holidays

  • Flexible scheduling and work from home policy depending on role and responsibilities

Base Salary Range

  • The base salary range for this position is: $139,300 to $174,100. This range is specifically for Cambridge, MA

Additional Perks:

  • Work on a mission with real impact: crashes prevented, injuries avoided, lives protected around the world

  • Join an industry leader — 65 million drivers protected, powering 140+ programs across 25 countries

  • Recognized innovator in mobility AI, earning top honors including the TIME Industry Leader in AI, a Gold Edison Award, and the Artificial Intelligence Excellence Award for AI for Social Good. CMT is also Great Place to Work Certified

  • Be part of the team inventing the future of mobility and road safety

  • Move fast, own outcomes, do work that matters

  • High ownership, small teams, and direct access to leadership — no layers between your work and its impact

  • Unlimited PTO, flexible scheduling, competitive salary, annual performance bonus, RSUs, and full benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401k match

  • Summer Fridays provide team members with half days to recharge

  • Join one of our employee resource groups: Black, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, Women, Book Club, and Health & Wellness
