Description

Are you a visionary leader ready to make a lasting impact on the Commonwealth? The Kentucky State Fair Board (KSFB) is seeking an accomplished, forward-thinking executive to lead the day-to-day and internal operations of the board and all Kentucky Venues properties, to include the Kentucky Exposition Center and the Kentucky International Convention Center.

As President and CEO, you will oversee the operations and strategic direction of an organization at the intersection of agriculture, tourism, business, and entertainment. While guiding the success and growth of world-class conventions, major trade shows and beloved Kentucky traditions, such as the Kentucky State Fair, National Farm Machinery Show, and North American International Livestock Exposition, you will ultimately shape the organization's vision, drive revenue growth, strengthen partnerships, and ensure exceptional experiences for guests, exhibitors, and event partners.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Promote the mission of the KSFB while cultivating strong and positive relationships with key partners within the agricultural/commodity community, tourism community, business community, and other stakeholders.

  • Oversee and manage employees in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

  • Oversee vendor and contractor performance, including service-level expectations, contract compliance, cost management, and corrective action when necessary.

  • Exercise exemplary oversight and stewardship of the Commonwealth’s funds while facilitating financial growth by astute fiscal management of the KSFB operating budget, ensuring transparency and compliance with applicable state and federal laws.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, technology, sustainability, facility utilization, and the overall guest and exhibitor experience.

  • Develop long-range capital plans based on facility condition, operational risk, customer needs, growth opportunities, and anticipated future events.

A successful candidate must have:

  • Significant and proven experience in executive leadership and strategic decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated experience leading large multidisciplinary teams; managing significant operating and capital budgets; overseeing complex facilities; managing vendors and contracts; coordinating major events; and working with senior executives, government agencies, public safety organizations, and external stakeholders.

  • Proven strong business and financial acumen managing budgets and fiscal growth strategies.

  • Demonstrated commitment to building and cultivating relationships with national, state, and local partners and stakeholders.

  • Involvement or willingness to be involved with the agricultural and trade associations.
