Description
The CEPH-accredited School of Public Health at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (https://public-health.tamu.edu/departments/eoh/index.html) . Texas A&M University is the largest public land-grant research university located in College Station, Texas. Founded in 1876 as the state’s first public institution of higher education, it has grown into one of the largest universities in the nation. Texas A&M is known for its strong traditions, academic rigor, and extensive research activity.
Texas A&M University is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), is a Carnegie Classification R1-Very High Research Activity, and is one of only 17 institutions in the nation to hold the triple designation as a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant university. The School of Public Health has over 95 faculty across four distinct departments and is going through multiple years of expansion to support its research, teaching and service mission as the largest U.S. land-grant institution. The School of Public Health is currently ranked #1 in Texas and 31/225 by U.S. News & World Report and has the 6th largest student enrollment in the nation. The school has had record external funding growth over the past five years.
About the Department
The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health has fourteen tenured and tenure track faculty members, six non-tenure instructional faculty, and is home to approximately 125 graduate students. The Department offers master’s degree concentration in both environmental and occupational health, a professional-track Doctor of Public Health, and will be launching a new Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health Sciences in Fall 2027. Additionally, faculty teach in the School’s undergraduate public health degree program, which enrolls over 2,400 students. Located in College Station, TX on the flagship campus of the Texas A&M University System, faculty have access to world-class resources both within the school and across the university. The Department was recently ranked #16 in Environmental Health Sciences program in the nation and #1 in Texas by U.S. News and World Report.
About the Position
The Department of Environmental and Occupatioanl Health in the School of Public Health is expanding their multidisciplinary research programs to address environmental and occupational determinants of health. The Department invites applications for a full-time tenured/tenure-track faculty position with expertise in Exposure Sciences, with a preferred emphasis in industrial hygiene (IH). We seek an innovative educator and researcher committed to identifying, evaluating, and controlling environmental and occupational hazards.
This position offers a unique opportunity to conduct interdisciplinary research in both environmental and occupational settings. The ideal candidate should have a strong record of research productivity and expertise in comprehensive exposure assessment methods to characterize human exposures to chemical, biological, physical agents, and examine their associations with adverse health outcomes among workers and/or the general population.
This position is a 9-month faculty appointment with an expectation to teach a minimum of four courses per academic year with the option of course buyout with research funding. The successful candidate will also be expected to secure external research funding and contribute service to the profession. This appointment is anticipated to start as early as August 1, 2027. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor depending on qualifications. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
We seek candidates with the following qualifications :

A doctoral degree (PhD) in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational and/or Environmental Health, Environmental Engineering, Exposure Science, Toxicology, or a closely related field with demonstrated training in research design and quantitative methods.

Expertise in industrial hygiene, particularly occupational and/or environmental exposure assessment. Experience in graduate-level teaching and research with an emphasis on industrial hygiene, exposome sciences, or related areas.

A track record of research productivity and peer-reviewed publications commensurate with academic rank, with demonstrated potential for or success in securing external research funding.

Experience with conducting field-based exposure assessment research in occupational and/or environmental settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). Candidates without current CIH certification should be able to pursue certification within three years of appointment.
